    G&L Club Part 7

Well, I finally made the jump and placed an order for a USA LB-100!!! Fullerton red, tort pickguard, maple fingerboard, and matching headstock. G&L is saying "10-12 weeks" to ship. Can't wait!

    Crooked Precision Bass Bridge Cover

That was my first thought. Refill the hole and start over. Anybody know if the old trick of using a toothpick and some wood glue is a good route to go for something like this?

    Crooked Precision Bass Bridge Cover

Good point! I might take a look at that and see if it would work or not...

    Crooked Precision Bass Bridge Cover

I'd rather keep it as I like the vintage look.

    Crooked Precision Bass Bridge Cover

I just bought a Fender USA Professional P-Bass (my second one!) and the previous owner installed a bridge cover. I noticed, however, that it is slightly crooked where the part closes to the G string is too far forward. It's probably not super noticeable, but I notice these things and now it is...

I have the Antique Olive as well and was thinking about a black pickguard. I'm curious to see how it looks once you install it! ;)

    Fender 2018 MIM Player Series

I'm the same. I love the looks of Jazz basses but just love the feel and tone of Precisions. Personally, I prefer the beefier necks on P-basses. But you're totally right in my opinion... can't beat that P-bass tone!

Rick Danko was phenomenal! "Don't Do It" was such a funky bassline. Another great one is "Up on Cripple Creek."

    "Vintage" Fender P-Bass Tone

Great, thank you for the advice! I found another thread on TB that went over that pickup and nobody had a bad thing to say about it. My fear with buying any pickup that I've never used before is getting one that sounds too "modern" in terms of tone. I'm all about that "vintage" p-bass tone!

    "Vintage" Fender P-Bass Tone

I checked out Lollar's website and listened to the audio clips... sounds pretty good! Another one I'm considering is Bill Lawrence's P-46 pickup...

It did! I was disappointed at first because I wanted to original dual humbucker layout that Gibson used in the '70s but then I realized how much versatility there is with a P/J configuration.

It's a really fun bass to play! It took a bit of time to get used to the body shape (and is somewhat awkward to play while sitting down) but the neck is nice and chunky. I've been wanting to swap out the pickups but haven't gotten around to it. Super cool bass!
