    Club Bordwell Part 4

5 years old now, but no, I can't really say if the tone has changed. If it has, it's hard to say because there's probably been subtly changes to my 'tone' as I've adapted to the instrument, and also finding new sounds with the electronics.

...as requested! These were taken when I first received the bass, so she's aged (gracefully) a little now.

    Club Bordwell Part 4

Thanks Tapy. Ok, I've just recorded using the bridge pickup in series/single/parallel (in that order). I can't 'solo' the pickups in passive mode, so I've recorded this in active, with the eq flat and the high/low-Z off. It sounds very similar to passive mode. I didn't play up the neck...

    Club Bordwell Part 4

The last time I visited this thread was... well, many months ago. It's also been a while since I've played my CB. Anyway, I've been meaning to put up some sound clips of my bass. Here's a short one - nothing special, just wanted to demonstrate the low strings/lower positions on my 32" six...

oops, I just noticed the "fanned fretted 7" bit! Not gonna work with an A-style bridge is it?

Have you seen the Ghost midi system by Graphtech? It's compatible with the A-style bridge that Cliff uses and looks much neater than the Roland system. It's also used by serious dudes such as Gary Willis :bassist: http://www.graphtech.com/products.html?SubCategoryID=15

That's a nice piece of Ziricote on Cliffs wood page. I reckon it would look great with a two-tone fingerboard like on scottm's latest Ball Bass! The Rami shape is growing on me too. The walnut sixer on the CB home page is real nice!

I've tried photographing my CB with different lighting this time... I wanna record some sound clips too, but I can't decide on a USB Audio-interface for my Windows laptop. Any suggestions in the sub-$500 range?

I'm happy with the switch to 32". I notice the difference when I go back to my 34" Warwick.... i'm gonna sell it now. I'd love to see someone order a high five SCB a la Matt Garrison, Janek Gwizdala, Tony Grey style highly figured Foderas. Maybe drop in a Pope preamp too.

Great Scott! How do the Armstrongs sound compared to the Nordys?

The Official Medium Scale Bass Club

Great, thanks. Are they Nordys on yours too? How does it sound and is it your main instrument? I have Nordstrand dual-coils with Audere pre-amp; bass, treble, hi+lo mid and balance/vol. Series/single/parallel switches, 'Z' switch (variable impedance) and active/passive switch. There's a...

Sorry Eude, I missed your question on sustain, so I edited my quote. What other strings can you recommend? It's good to have a few options when searching for replacements.

Thanks for the kind words. I believe the strings are DR Lowriders. It's string thru body, so they might just be regular scale... I really should find out :hmm: I try to play with a light touch, and I think that helps the sustain, but there's no problems otherwise. It's a deep-set neck (as...

Hey there medium scale bass club! I thought you might be interested in this Cliff Bordwell creation I recently received. It's a 32" scale. I was a bit unsure about ordering a 6'er in a short(er) scale, but it's turned out great!

Thanks, I have the white one. It's working out great. Most of all, I like the neck; the thickness and shape are spot-on for me. While everyone's talkin' bout ramps, I thought I'd mention that mine is radiused. Being a six, there would be a pretty big gap between the ramp and the middle...
