The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

My current corral: (L to R) 1) SX P-Bass LH "Frankenbass" with a new neck and tuners, quarter pounder pickups, and new pots. My 1st bass... I can't let go. 2) Fender Aerodyne (MIJ) LH 3) Schecter Stiletto Studio 4 LH 4) Sire Marcus Miller V7 LH 5) Hofner HTC500/1L Contemporary LH The...

What do you play for a soundcheck

Suwanee River... If it's good enough for Norton it's good enough for me!

    Fender Aerodyne Club!

You asked! ;) But #1 served its purpose... play dat thang! Enjoy! It's a great player.

    Fender Aerodyne Club!

    1) It's too clean...... 2) All Black Basses are bad @$$ 3) Buying an Aerodyne to fill a spot on the guitar rack is sacrilege.

    Fender Aerodyne Club!

True Dat! Took almost a year to find my Dolphin Grey (non-export), a LH'er to boot. Mine was $250 less than a new RH export. It wasn't new, but it was mint, and just needed strings and a setup.... I've found a decent deal is rarely an impulse buy, (unless you get lucky)!

Which would you have, a Hofner Violin Bass, or a Thunderbird?

Biased opinion here. I own a HCT 500/1. Though it's quirky, it's been a great bass. Weight makes it comfortable for long sets and practicing. Add flatwounds for that classic sound and it's about as classy looking as basses come. drool

    Fender Aerodyne Club!

^^^ This... lots of variables. My non-export seems to have plenty of thump. It's jazz pick-up does seem to be the dominant one, but there inlies it's beauty... A tone that is unique to a P/J. My 05/06 is bone stock with fairly new TI Powerbass strings.

    Best rock lyric ever?

"Sadder still to watch it die Than never to have known it For you, the blind who once could see The bell tolls for thee"

My 1st bass got some upgrades...

I guess I'm a nostalgic fool... My SX Ursa 1 LH is the 1st bass guitar I ever owned. It was the bass I wanted before I knew what I wanted, which is probably a familiar story. Well, as I progressed, this poor bass geetar became less used, mostly because of a bowed neck the truss rod couldn't...

[Poll] Putting stickers on a bass, what's your opinion?

I've stickered my SX bass.... but, they're removable. My 'good' basses are all beautiful without any sticker help. When the SX is done I'll post some pics, it's a Frankenbass.

well, it's gonna be 97 tomorrow...

90*F with 75% humidity... Self basting ON. Yea!

IMO, neck dive on expensive guitars is absolutely inexcusable

Unless the builder claims it's perfectly balanced, there's no harm or foul, imho. That was one simple question that should have been asked before buying if balance was so important. Never assume..... I've paid for that lesson as well. :sorry:

Are you happier owning only one bass?

I don't think I'll ever own more basses than I can play. I have 4 right now, with one down waiting on a neck replacement... I play all of them regularly (minus the one for now). I don't ever see becoming a collector, or a hoarder (j/k) because just knowing it's there isn't a good reason to get...

    Never ever EVER.......
