This weather is no joke, folks. I'm playing tonight and it's gonna be in the 90's. No A/C. I can do it, but I'm worried for our drummer who had open heart surgery about 10 weeks ago, and has only played the last two weeks with us (in a much better room!). We have a sub on pedal steel tonight, who is also a great drummer. We're gonna tell our guy to stop when he's fatigued, the show WILL go on. Me, I'm suckin' down water all day, hoping to emulate a camel. I'll bring a cooler with water, sport drinks and ice, a fan mounted on an amp stand, a sweat towel, some sugary snacks, etc. I may even have to break a cardinal rule of mine and wear cargo shorts and a tee shirt. It's a campground ... half the audience will be shirtless ... the wrong half! No boots and Stetson tonight folks, sorry!
That's the truth! I've experienced Phoenix and Afghanistan in the summer. No thanks!
I was at the Salton Sea in Southern California when it was 128 degrees in the shade (no joke). And I was in Vegas when it was 122 degrees. The word "stifling" doesn't do it justice.
So I guess I should be happy that it's only supposed to be 104 today in the Sacramento area. "Only" 104!

Played last night outside, downtown Niagara Falls, NY. Was about 83 at start time (7PM) and was not really that sticky, so had no issues till about 9:00, when the lights came on...and the bugs....Oh, the bugs...probably appeared to have some kind of spastic condition at times, swatting at my head while trying to maintain the groove 
Well, I guess I've experienced this already, since I've lived here in Redding for the last 13 years. OOPS, better get outside and soak it up! Woo-Hoo!!!!!
When I feel like complaining about the heat I just remember 40C temps in Bangkok, which seems hotter in the concrete jungle.
I also remember standing in a big parking lot in San Pedro (L.A.) in 100F & watching the heat waves going up into the the sky.
Similar for Saudi Arabia, but it was heat waves off the ocean.

Went to a friends (drummer) outdoor gig last night. It was 87°, humid and little to no breeze after sunset. They are all 60ish and pulled it off nicely but, a hot mess by the time they finished and wrapped up. He's got another gig this afternoon, outdoors at 4:00 and it's gonna be 92° before the heat index. Fortunately, they're all in pretty good shape, physically. Although, their bass player is questionable. Maybe, I'll get a call for fill in? Nah, bass players are tough. He'll make it 
I know what you mean about Thailand. Been there, done that, and NOT going back. Stepped off the plane in Okinawa and was 123° on the tarmac with 90% humidity and no wind. Boot soles were getting mushy while standing there. Glad those days are gone!
Even though my handle is BostonJazz72 I have been in Chicago for five years now and all I have to say it is toasty out there today. Stay hydrated.

We went straight from spring to august in Alabama this year. I don't ever recall it getting this consistently hot this early in the summer here, ever. We are also getting drenched this year. Since janurary i'd guestimate an average of three to four times the average monthly rainfall. Grass is growing faster than we can cut it.
The upside is i'm having to rig braces to keep my sister in law's fig tree from losing it's big lower branches it's so loaded with fruit. Between the heat and rain it's gonna be a banner year for fig preserves.
