well, it's gonna be 97 tomorrow...

Here in Ireland we're having a heatwave, although our max temperature is only hitting 88-ish, which I'll admit pales in comparison to what some of you folks are getting.
Still, it's very unusual for Ireland...we're talking water restrictions, ice-cream supplies running low, and lots of stupid people getting sunburn.

I hear you, I've had some really challenging outdoor gigs. But it can be weird. One of my best gigs *ever* was at an inner city festival which was held on a huge stage on a closed off main road in a large shopping precinct. The rain was absolutely persisting down, truly bucketing and I thought "A gig is a gig baby" and resolved to just go and do my best.
The drummer had forgotten his cymbal case (Insert Joke Here) and we had a super strict deadline so we had to start up without them (kudos to him, did a lot more than I ever thought possible with rimshots hehe) while the drummer in the previous band kindly came back and installed cymbals while we played. When I looked up after the first few bars, people had POURED out of the shops all the way up the street, hundreds and hundreds dancing in the rain in the street (I realise how hackneyed that sounds, trust me it was cool
We were snug as a bug in a rug up on our stage, just as I was thinking this might the funnest gig in ages I turned around to check something on my (backline supplied) SVT just in time to see that part of the awning had slightly bucked and water was *pouring* onto and into it :-0 Like someone had turned a tap on above it. Well, I thought, if this is how it ends I can't complain really. It never missed a beat, sounded fantastic the whole gig.

95 today, 98 tomorrow, I'm going to participate in the biggest traffic jam of the summer and go to Cape Cod.
94 today for a high but i'm not playing till 8 PM. 97 tomorrow and start time is 2 PM. Both outdoor gigs. The big fan is already loaded in the truck. If you see a melted blob oozing across the floor of TB on Sun. night........ it's me.
I'm in CT. Upper 90s next two days and high humidity. Public health & safety people have been issuing advisories for the last three days. But you can count on at least a few heat related fatalities over the weekend. Because a lot of people around here don't get how heat can kill you. Freezing temps, yeah. That they understand. But not heat.
Yep... 97 expected here in the Chicago area today with EXCESSIVE humidity to go along with it....
I have asthma and I had to hit the emergency inhaler last night because my breathing gets impaired BIG TIME in massive humidity and heat. This morning I can already feel the thickness in the air, even in my air-conditioned home. Having your airways close up and restricted breathing feels like near death every time..
I highly doubt I could pull off an outdoor gig today. (If I were in a band)

35 degrees scheduled for Canada Day. I've played at that temp. but it is NOT fun. My gig has moved inside, but I fear it's falling apart from there.
Edit- From Google earth the building were in appears to be one story, level load in. Fingers crossed.
I guess if you're just gigging for fun that's fine. We mostly gig for biker clubs and dive bars. Jeans and boots are always the attire although the drummer does wear a pair of Chucks instead of boots. The hotter it gets the better I like it although I do have to hose the sweat off of my bass at the end of the gigs.
I once was in Indio ca, where the temp was 124 f in the shade, no shade possible, the gila monsters and rattle snakes wouldn't let me in to measure.
Yeah i kind of laugh at the guys who talk about always wearing pants. I do wear pants to gigs when it's not hotter than a hoochie Coochie but we have a gig tomorrow and the temp is supposed to be in the 90s with 71% humidity. Won't do Sandals but I'll absolutely be rocking cargo shorts
Gonna be a whole week if that heat here! That's why I'm heading up the Gatineau to the cottage and will spend as much time IN the lake as possible.
I'm so glad I'm not gigging right now!
