Fender Aerodyne Club!

I have had mine since 2003, shown here at the Poole Blues Festival 2016. I just bought a set of DiMarzio 126 pups from Dood on Basschatbit I have not fitted them yet.

The bridge is the high mass one originally fitted all other hardware is also original. Can I have a number please.

The combo has long since gone and been replaced by a Bugera Veyron 1001M and a Basschat1x12 Mk2. I still have the T shirt.

What's the serial?

Jealous of those of you who have the dolphin gray one. That's super cool. Tbh, I like a little more color in my basses. Probably getting something mint green next, lol.
Maybe you could score a US Gunmetal Blue version. It’s hue is close to Dolphin Grey, but a tad more colorful, especially under the right lighting. ;)

Just checked these out. Absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, they seem to run a good deal more expensive than the black ones.
Yeah, they are a bit "thin on the ground" here in The States, but who knows? You just might stumble upon one domestically and for a reasonable price. It can happen, izzn't dat right, @Snakeman1066? ;)

Yep the deals are out there...I scored this one from Japan for way less than a U.S. version and that was even including the shipping!!!!

Hi, got a new Aerodyne last year, love it. I ended up having the control cavity shielded, it stopped the noise! Also had Duncan quarter pounders installed along with a Babicz bridge. Wow, this is a great bass, the neck is a joy to play, and it sounds and looks great! It is rock solid, stays in tune for ever! View attachment 3285536
BTW, the aerodyne has a really cool growl to it that the ibanez doesn't ! Love the neck on the fender!

True Dat! Took almost a year to find my Dolphin Grey (non-export), a LH'er to boot.
Mine was $250 less than a new RH export. It wasn't new, but it was mint,
and just needed strings and a setup.... I've found a decent deal is rarely an
impulse buy, (unless you get lucky)!

Hello all -

Just received this from Japan yesterday. 2010-2012 medium scale AJB-M. Love it so far.

I have a question for the Aerodyne experts. I want to swap the pickguard. I've found one online for the AJB-80m-D/J, but I can't find any info on when whether there are any differences other than the model name.

Would a AJB-80-D/j scratch plate fit the AJB-M?

Looking them over in pictures, I can't identify any differences.

Can anyone help?

Not an expert, so have no info to offer, but I have that exact bass and it’s a great instrument. I do get some 60 cycle hum from the electronics, even shielded, but it’s nothing I’ve needed to address, yet.

I should edit to add—my 17 y/o stepchild has taken it off to her room, and it will likely leave with her to go to college next year. I will cry.

A 2003 Non-Export Edition? That means it's from the very first generation of Aerodynes, which is righteously cool!
Yes it has the flat jack rather than the Strat type. It gotta bit damp when we had a flood and some of the hardware tarnished to my horror. I was going to order new hardware but then...I decided it was part of them history and a sort of genuine relicing. I have other basses but always go back to this.

I bought a set of DP126 DiMarzio pups but I am not sure about putting them on. Any thoughts?

I think you’ll enjoy the Dimarzios. Many like the stock pickups in the Aerodyne but they are weak, IME, to solid offerings in the pickup arena. I spent the extra coin to drop in a custom Fralin set — I went 3% over on the P and 8% over on the J. The J pickup absolutely snarls at the 8% overwind (recommended by Lindy). And the set is balanced perfectly.
