Just stumbled onto this thread looking to find out what bass he plays- just seen the band LIVE in Manchester UK. absolutely phenomenal band in every way. Totally hooked!

If you can afford it, I’d always do this. I have a 93 stingray 5. It’s fab. And has the ceramic pickups and phantom coil. I’d also add the Sires (from my experience with a V9 gen 2) should be great, and the Harley Bentons (I have an HH stingray copy) are also great on a budget.

Thanks. I think I did it as a reply to someone owning the same bass. the pots feel a bit ‘wobbly’ (2 have centre indents and one doesn’t, plus the volume and blend controls (which also has centre detent) Will know more tonight once I’ve tried it with new 9V batteries. Was doing weird stuff...

Thanks I’ve posted in there too - this one is unusual as it’s a rare beast (I have an SGC 315 too) and has 18v preamp vol/blend and 3 way EQ. BUT I think it’s slightly different to the Godlyke Deity that followed it (which has a notch filter). Plus I think the pots *may* need replacing...

Old thread I know but finally found a lovely (totally mint) blue one of these too. Just as nice as expected after a minor fettle and string change. I’ve read about people changed pickups as they’re ‘weak’ but they seem fine to me…?

They’re lovely/interesting old handmade basses but yes- same here. Got one on a whim as I’d been interested for years. great wood/parts/craftsmanship but can’t justify keeping it in current financial climate :-(
