Singer blurring the line between the "brand" of our band and her personal "brand"

Don't you guys have a scheduled rehearsal? Have a band meeting next time you all show up for rehearsal. She can't very well say she doesn't have time when she shows up for rehearsal. I don't see how a meeting face to face could be so hard to schedule with someone you are in a band with. Work...

Is there anyone that you refuse to play with, no matter how good/talented they may be

Oh yeah. Quit a band that I really thought was great just because the singer/leader sucked ALL the fun out of the band. It was miserable.

    Good for Promotion?

Your bandmates sound like morons. Who on earth would care where each band member was born?

Noob Help with Recording Cover Band

Just another viewpoint: IMO, once you start recording digitally, you are going to want to make things sound better and better. It won't be long and you'll wish that you had seperate tracks for the drums so you can gate them, and have each drum on it's own track in your DAW. I'd recommend...

    Cheap cable vs Expensive cable

What are you people doing to your cables that they wear out so quick? I rehearse/gig/session regularly and recently had a cheap cable short out. I bought that cable when I was in college. That was 2001, people. I cut off the ends and make patch cables out of it now. All of my other cables are...

    Gig Cancellation

Dude there is no reason to play that late anywhere. You know people will be leaving before midnight. You can cancel or you can suck it up and play.....no shame in either.

USB vs. latency vs. using my PC as an amp...

Not to dis-suade you from trying linux, because it is great and everything said here is true. BUT. You should be able to do what you are wanting with nearly any off the shelf dual core or better PC and firewire interface. I'm running a 5 year old HP desktop with windows XP, and get I less than 4...

    Splitters

Also, if your digital board has compressors in it, it might work for you as well. Hit the guitar channel hard with a clean sounding compressor and maybe it'll even him out some.

    Splitters

Turn all the channel faders down some. Turn the MASTER fader up more....make sure your power amps are turned up so you have sufficient power. This will give you more fader headroom on each channel. Problem solved. If your master fader is already up all the way sounds like your system may be...

the worst drummer you've ever worked with?

Funny! We just auditioned a drummer last week who graduated from berklee. It went terrible. He asked us for drum charts. Seriously??? It's 4/4 rock....pretty simple. we also gave him several songs to learn about a week before the audition. when he showed up he hadn't listened to them even once...

Sometimes an audition doesnt go exactly as you expect....

My band auditioned a drummer from craigslist last week. He said he'd been playing for-ever but it's been a few years since he was in a band. We are just 4 on the floor straight ahead rock....a shuffle beat or 2 in there but mostly just easy 4/4 grooves. He shows up in a prison striped shirt and...

Guitar Cabinet Mic Technique - Is my Guitarist Wack?

I'm primarily a guitarist. His amp is about 4x too big. Solution: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] I run a 22 watt Dr Z head into a 1x12 cab with a greenback(not an efficient speaker) and I use my mass attenuator at EVERY gig and rehearsal. It allows us to get a really great IEM mix...
