    QSC GX3 + VT Bass

fEarful isn't cheap by any means. If you're looking for PA type cabs, there's literally scores that you can buy for less than half the price of the drivers for a fEarful.

Sit down before you read this...

The instrument itself should actually be quite nice. Those Squiers are great value. Change the pups if you want to feel like you're doing something to mod some metal into the bass. Quarter Pounders from Seymour Duncan should boost your cred. Played correctly, it should work great, right from...

SX (Essex) fans-- don't miss THIS! WOW!

IME the necks are *nearly* interchangable. Nothing a lil sandpaper and/or shimming can't fix (which is also pretty much true of the retail complete instruments). I'd think if he listed them individually, they'd go quite fast. Myself, I need fewer, not more. :( But I do have an extra...

    Cabinet Design Question

There's definitely room for common sense. And aesthetics. Note you need 1.9 ft^3 internal volume. Internal dimensions, not external. Eminence doesn't specify the dimensions of the box with the understanding that if you choose a shape that's not crazy, it's gonna work as expected. It can't be so...

So I've been told the US Gov has decided Neodymium is a precious metal. Yay!

It's the abbreviation for Mitchell Airport in Milwaukee county, WI. Miller Park is the "new" stadium for the Milwaukee Brewers, which had construction delays because of a terrible crane accident. There've been a number of issues with the design. I was on a dissertation committee dealing...

That's a great clip, one of the rare ones I listened all the way thru. Makes me want to get myself a zoom h4n ;)

    Connecting amp head to computer?

The Ashdown has DI out, switchable to be post-EQ. Use it.

    Building a ported 1x15 cabinet

Unfiltered, it has to fall off from the fundamental, whether it's a vibrating string, a tuning fork, or whatever. There are, of course, lots of filters between the instrument's string and your ears. And your ears are famously non-flat filters, themselves.

Seems like you'd do reasonably well estimating the volume of a speaker as a truncated cone. If you don't have a high schooler in geometry around, a cone's volume is 1/3 pi r^2 h, where r is the radius and h is the height. So subtraction and some simplifying yields 1/3 pi h (r^2 + R^2 + rR) where...

    Building a ported 1x15 cabinet

The Vb came from Eminence, selected for a particular tuning (the freqs given in the post above). The OP is looking for a box that's fairly wide to fit the amp, so making it still wider than it is tall or deep, I think the dimensions look ok. Any more than 5:4 width/height ratio is gonna look...

    DIY GFRP Sandwich Panel 1x15PR400

Thinking a bit more - I'm betting if you do a good job on getting a smooth surface, you'll be tempted to paint it up autobody style. I vote Corvette red! A lesson from my exp - next time I do it I'll glass both sides before gluing the box together. The only good reason to make the...

    4-10's & 2-12's in a PH 810 cabinet?

Even if you like the way it drives with different sized tires, it'll be easier to sell in its stock configuration. Same with the PH 810, I'd think.
