That looks fantastic! I had the hardware on my L-2000 gold plated by a jeweler. Need to get that bass back or buy another and do it again.

G&L used to use German made Schaller tuning machines with short stems. The newer USA builds use Korean made Ping tuning machines with a modified aluminum post and G&L branding. I prefer the look of long stems like the old Fenders or Gotoh GB640 machines.

Is that an ebony board? Ebony boards are the best. Very nice bass.

I used Spraymax 2k clear coat. Yes, I sanded and buffed. I can't do a finish like Fender here at my NYC apartment, but it's fun to do it yourself.

A few weeks of time. About $600 maybe. I didn't keep track as I do it for the fun.

This is a cool post. The differences between years are so interesting to me. I love my 2016 L-2000, a ton!
