G&L Club Part 7

Thank you!

Yeah it was weird looking but the sound wasn't bad at all, simply very different from the typical organic roar of a L2K. A very clean JJ fretless sound, thanks to the active Alembic set.
The mod on the other hand was very poorly done, so much that the guy eventually slapped a pickguard to hide his work.

Looks great. I have an ‘82 L2K Hog that I picked up a little over year ago.
Sounds great & plays well. Has a tremendous amount of playing wear & crazing to the finish.

Sometimes I think about refinishing it & othertimes I figure to keep as is.

Yesterday morning I used it for church service as something was lacking on the midweek rehearsal. Yep, that L2K was sounding good, glad I did.

pro tip: When not in use, protect your G&Ls with a vicious watch dog.

Do you have a picture to share?
I usually like when an instrument shows signs of use, when the nitro varnish cracks, the metal parts tarnish and the white plastic turns yellow. It tells a nice story...

Here's my L2K Hog. The finish is worn through on the back, but its not gouged.
So basically previous owners played the snot out of it but not abused, which is really cool.
I picked it up here on TB just before COVID got crazy, thinking this would be my rock & roll bass.
I had been interested in another G&L and just had to try a mahogany body at some point, not many make them anymore.

Primarily due to the scarcity and high costs of true Mahogany.
I have a body blànk of reclaimed Honduras Mahogany I'm going to build out soon .

This Lynx was filthy AF. Tore it apart to clean it and she is a growling beast.

Very nice! Is it the same pickup mounted on SB-2s bridge position?

A red Lynx is high on my gas list. Very high.

There is a very pretty 1st gen SB-2 for sale here: ≥ G&L SB-2 - Snaarinstrumenten | Gitaren | Bas - Marktplaats.nl

Just the right amount of wear. And that color, wow!

Love that natural JB-2. Under 9 lbs. I’ve got one of my own but I paid more than that and the wood isn’t as nice. It feels so much better to me than a normal shape J.

Joe

Thx for the heads up, Joe. I bought it.

I won't have it for a while, though. G&L doesn't ship to Canada. So TomB kindly agreed to ship it up to me, once he gets it. Thx for going through all that trouble, TomB. Very appreciated.

If it's anything like the other Tribs that I own, it will be a great deal!

Did you keep the pics? It's not up in the store anymore and I didn't snag the pics when it was up...
