Has anyone tried a pickguard for their L2000 from this place?
Just curious how well it fits.

I owned a standard L2000 Tribute, a limited edition M2000 Tribute GTS, a Tribute SB2 and recently picked up a L2000 Tribute (Carved body). Basically all the Tribute basses I bought, owned and currently own all have the MFD pickups which are the exact same ones they use in the US models. So in terms of sound, they sound pretty identical.
They have similar (but not identical in terms of manufacture and from my understanding, quality) heavy mass bridge, and electronics. The difference is with the options you get with the US ones to basically customize it to your preferences, finish, wood, quartersawn neck, neck width, you don't really have a choice with the Tributes, but there are a few special versions of Tributes that might be worth looking for.
All the Tributes I have bought have been of very high quality.

View attachment 4236987 View attachment 4236988The neck is 1 3/4" which I found just a little too wide for my taste so I traded it. Great sound though, the bass was terrific otherwise.

Next, I got an SB2, then an M2000 Tribute GTS (the GTS was a special and limited version of the Tribute M2000- it had features that weren't on the standard M2000, carved body, binding, flame finish - some of the options I would have selected if I ordered a US M2000. Great bass and quality . Neck was 1 5/8" .

Just last week, I picked up another G&L L2000 Tribute as I was missing the previous one I traded.
This was a 2011 "deluxe" model that had the carved body, flame finish under the sunburst and even a vintage tint to the neck (fretboard and neck itself). Now this is where I'm a little puzzled. From my understanding these were supposed to come with the 1 3/4" neck as well but the one on my particular bass was 1 5/8" which was ideal for me, so I'm happy with that. Again, great quality and sound, very happy with it.
Hope this is of help. I wouldn't have any hesitation recommending a Tribute version to anyone.

I love that you found out so much more about that flamed burst L2000 than I did. I'm still happy with our trade by the way, and I still have my Kiloton for when I need my MFD fix.

lol...I didn't know that was you also didn't know you had a Kiloton.
In a tough pickle as I inadvertently (er unexpectedly) bought a US P bass (in a color I've long sought after and at a price that didn't make sense) a day after we traded. Logistically speaking, I was supposed to pare down my collection for an upcoming move not add. ...I'm hesitant to let go of either! lol The more I play the G&L, the more I'm rationalizing and talking myself into keeping both. The carved body L2000 is very different from the previous standard Trib L2000 I owned in terms of feel (you took great care of it btw) so I was really curious about it, the neck is noticeably slimmer. Great bass! Also glad you're happy with yours.

Not sure if anyone saw my recent comment about fretboard hump on my new LB-100. Has anyone dealt with warranty issues on a new G&L?

Just plugged in my new USA Kiloton into my Mesa/Revsound setup, OMG this thing is way hotter than my Stingray Special. I love the tone and versatility. Within 5 minutes I was wondering if I should've bought it in a 5 string, well I can always get one later, or an L2500 or M2500, or?? Lol!

I'm happy to answer. RS-210 8 ohm (no tweeter and dont need it either) and RS-115T. Previously had an RS-115, sold to fund the 210. The 210 kills. It hangs with a loud full band. Typically Dave sells the 210 as a 4ohm, but I wanted 8 to pair with the 8 ohm 115. Give Dave a call, he's awesome great to talk with, and will build to suit your needs. I'm hedging on purchasing the new RS-212XT which is 800 watts RMS.

I finally completed* my restoration of a 1983 mahogany L-2000...

Before :

No frets, gold hardware, JJ Alembic setup, ugly pickguard.

After :

New frets, tuners, pickups, control plate (with the correct crinkle black paint), electronics with K-mod.

The whole process can be seen here :


*It is only passive atm, I still have to make and install the preamp PCB. Connecting the pickups, pots and switches yesterday was enough soldering for me since it almost drove me nuts...
Sounds glorious already!

Beautifully done rescue! The before picture was......ummm....yikes.

Yeah it was weird looking but the sound wasn't bad at all, simply very different from the typical organic roar of a L2K. A very clean JJ fretless sound, thanks to the active Alembic set.
The mod on the other hand was very poorly done, so much that the guy eventually slapped a pickguard to hide his work.
