Hey fellow G&L owners, I have a question. I recently purchased a Tribute L2500. Love the color (blueburst) and sound. I am struggling to get it set-up properly. I bought it off an online retailer as "B" stock due to a barely visible mar in the finish. When I received it, there had not even been an attempt at a setup. I do my own setups and I'm usually pretty handy at it. Not so much this time. The truss rod was cranked down so tight it actually had a little back-bow. I've loosened and loosened it and even took it to a pro to see what was up. He says the frets are ok and he managed to get the neck flat. This doesn't work well for a heavy handed player like me. I need some relief in the neck. Am I correct in my understanding that this is a "dual action" truss rod and continuing to turn it counter-clockwise will eventually introduce some relief? I really don't want to return it as I got a pretty good deal and other than struggling a bit with the setup, I love the bass. (plus it would be a major pita to return it.) Any advice or answers appreciated.

Funny you should mention that site. I'm a member there also and asked the same question there. After reading the various truss rod posts, it looks like they started using dual action ones in the mid-teens.

Perhaps "dual action" is not accurate. I believe they actually call it a "passive truss rod" in that it does not impart longitudinal force on the neck itself, but rather imparts upward flex along the entire fingerboard. It doesn't help that I prefer lower tension strings. I'll keep loosening until I get some results. I'm not giving up!
Interesting.. I just recently picked up a Trib L2000 (my fourth G&L Trib bass to date) but it's from 2011. Haven't had to adjust it yet.
In terms of adjusting your bass, I would loosen it, and give it a couple of days to take the adjustment. It doesn't sound like you need to turn it all that much if it's already straight right now and just need a slight bow.
Had the El Toro out at LZ band prax yesterday.
Loving how this bass sits in the mix (although, since the phone/recorder was placed close to the Fridge, you're getting a pretty bass-heavy mix, not that there is anything wrong with that).
We were working on a little variation in Black Dog during the 3rd verse. Kinda still a work in process.

This is the thing I love about MFDs: the sound just seems to jump out of the instrument.
Sounds great! And I like the variation in the third verse. Gets it into a nice groove instead of the wankfest riff that Page came up with. (I’m not really a Zep fan...)
