I don't think that I could paint either of them, but I'm a sucker for natural finish. Most of my basses have the grain showing!
Wow,everytime I think about,selling my LB100,1st Gen,I see all the comments,and other ones,on here,I have decided to keep my LB100! Thanks,for making me realize that I need to keep! Call me fickle if you want,LOL
Keeping it is absolutely the right call.
And similarly, every now and then I think of letting mine go, and I just have to spend a little time with it. Then I wonder what I was even thinking.

Both of those are rosewood fingerboards? Either of them have 1 1/2 inch nuts? If so, lemme know when you come to your senses and realize they need a better home than you can give them.
(The poor things ... "maybe he'll sell me, maybe he won't" ... they deserve better.)

Yes rosewood finger board,think mine is 1 1/2 inch nut. Had the Cherry Burst in the classifieds,for awhile,until just today.
Rosewood, yes. But a supple 1-3/4” on mine. No twigs for me.
Just dumb luck, but it does tend to tie things together. I’m thinking about putting P-flats on for a more thumpy tone, but the Fenders both look and feel at home on that bass. They’ve been on there for about 7 years now.

Every so often I like to lurk around Reverb and the Classifieds to see if there are any ‘96-‘97 L2500’s with the 4+1 headstock for sale. I don’t know how many were ever built, so I sort of like to keep a mental note on how many I’ve seen around. There are about 3 active TB members who have them, and I have seen about 3 others for sale on TB since 2006.
There happens to be one on Reverb, located in Poland. The year is wrong (labeled 1992), but I have written to the seller for correction.

G&L 5 string basses
I'm sure many of sure know a huge amount about many G&L 5 string basses.
So, I'm just trying to see if there a list somewhere where I can see the main difference between all the G&L 5s?
I know some are active and some passive, and there are a different number of type of pickups.
But are definitions of ALL G&L models such as below (and I'm sure I'm missing some) somewhere so I can compare and educate myself? Thanks.

Despite what that auto title for the link says, that's the list of all the G&L basses, in alphabetical order
L2500 - Two MFD humbuckers tri tone-preamp (some variation in preamp and headstock design over the years)
M2500 - Two MFD humbuckers (not as hot as L series) 3 band active preamp (18V)
L5500 - EMG DC pickups and BTS preamp (stock 9V many are modded to 18V)
Kiloton - Passive single MFD humbucker
JB-5 - 5 string jazz bass
MJ-5 - Three band active preamp 5 string jazz bass (18V)
L5000 - First 5 string; narrow neck (4 string neck with 5 strings on it), Z-Coil MFD pickup (think of it as a 5 string SB1)
L1505 - Single MFD humbucker tri-tone preamp; pickup is between L2500 pickup locations
L1005 - 5 string version of the L1000; Single MFD humbucker in P location
And the extremely rare ASAT B5 - Only a couple of these made; Basically an L2500 with an ASAT bass body
The ASAT B5, L5000, L5500, L1005, and L1505 are going to be the rarer basses on this list.
