What Gear Did You Play In The 90’s?

That Mustang caught my eye - I have one exactly like it with a scratch on the front that's nearly identical. I got it at Fuller's in Houston in the late 90's. Attached is an image - I think it''s the same guitar! Scratches and dings look the same to me ...

Rig for today - 370/301 + Bass VI

Got the Acoustic fired up after a long slumber. Works pretty well with the Bass VI. I turned it up louder than I'd use it normally and got some nice feedback. I forgot how much blast this thing has. I mostly use a GK 400RB and SWR 210 these days ...

    Vintera II Bass VI Quality?

I've got one - seems quite good quality to me. I actually traded an AVRI Jaguar for it straight up. The Jag was probably worth more, but I just didn't play it much anymore and thought I would get more use out of the Bass VI. The neck is very nice dark rosewood. Intonation is fine with the stock...

    NBD: 1972 Gibson EB-0

Nice clean looking EB-0. I've still got a 68 that I got around 1977 but it's been out of action for years due to a broken headstock. Be extremely careful - this bass is not like a P that can be used as a jackstand or baseball bat. Mine broke in the old days before I discovered solid stands when...

    1978 precision bass help

Regarding my "Made in USA" decal comment above - I see some others with that now. So - never mind... Looks legit, and I agree with Jimmy M

    1978 precision bass help

What about what appears to be "Made in USA" in small letters under the "ION" in Precision? My 77 doesn't have that. Mine also has straight numbers, although the leading 7 is a bit larger than the rest. Just another data point.

    Defret or Replace?

Back in 1978 I went to see Weather Report, went home that night and tore out the frets on my 74 P. A little plastic wood to fill the slots, sanded down the board a bit and shot it with lacquer. Still going pretty strong. I'm not advocating this approach, but it worked for me in the dark ages. Of...

    Fender Fullerton Reissue club

Looks like a nice example to me. Of course color (especially Fiesta Red) is hard to reproduce photographically, but it strikes me as correct. Enjoy!

    SHOW YOUR DISTRESSED FINISHES!

1977 P that I bought in early 1978. For some reason during a rehearsal I did a Paul Simonon treatment and broke the body into two pieces. After regaining my composure, I repaired it and did some body work to smooth things out but never got around to repainting. It still sports the primer/filler...

    Fender Fullerton Reissue club

My Fiesta 84 Jazz is neck marked and stamped 4/13/84 just like this one. Perhaps they were cranking out the Fiestas on that day ... or at least a batch of necks.

There are nothing like serious jazz players to kick your ass six ways to Sunday

Really sweet - that sounds like a fun and challenging gig. The fact that gigs like that exist is a nice thing.

Getting big fat thud tones in big resonant rooms

Just want to say this thread is really getting into some essential tone production concepts. Very good stuff discussed here so far. This kind of discussion only on TB (not available in stores). Thanks!

1995 or 96 Vintage Series PBass thoughts?

Basses_02 by nukebuick posted Apr 26, 2019 at 9:03 PMI did - and I played the very nice custom shop Jazz too (beside it in the photo). It's Oly White with rosewood and tort, and a little arm wear starting to show. A few dings, but the neck seemed very straight and clean. I do still have that...

1995 or 96 Vintage Series PBass thoughts?

Great - thanks for that info, FenderOil. The bass I tried looks like a U.S. Vintage Reissue Corona '62. 95 or 96 production. Pretty sweet player. Feeling a bit of GAS ...
