    Show your "Funk Machine"

Thank you. I got that pick guard from an online site called Greasy Groove. They have a huge variety of guards for just about anything

    Are burst finishes out?

I hate yellow. But I love black burst edges. Just had this Fender Zone painted

What song first drew your interest in playing bass?

This and the entire Live at Leeds album. Never heard another bass sound so powerful.

How many frets do *you* need on your 4-string?

The vast majority of my playing is done within 15 frets or so. In one of my bands, we decided to cover The Real Me by The Who. I was able to play it on my 20 fret Bass, however it was much easier to play with a 24 fret. Having the extra frets when I'm not using them is not a problem for me.

I gave my Precision a makeover

You're not alone on this. I love that P tone, but prefer the slimmer J neck. I'm currently saving up to build my dream Bass because Fender doesn't build one exactly like I want. I want a quilt Maple top with no pickguard, string through, 18v active/passive with sweepable mid, PJ pickup...

What Song Intro Causes You To Immediately Turn Up The Volume?

Awesome! How is it that this song is not as big of a hit as Mississippi Queen?

But do I DESERVE a "nice" bass?

If you have a wife that is supporting you, then by all means do it now. My wife is the only person other than myself that would be involved in justifying a purchase. I'm in a somewhat similar situation with some differences. I currently only play in our church praise band (which is currently on...

    Amps In The Future

I used to have a Fender 400 PS. Unbelievably heavy, but wow, what great tone. The story of its demise is too heartbreaking to tell. With a pair of 215's connected, I was able to keep up with an incredibly loud band with my volume on 2-1/2.
