How to stabilize a light head on a thundering cab?

My wife is a hairstylist, and gave me a silicone pad that she used to use for hot curling irons and such. It works like a charm!

    Pay pal incident( scam )

You'd be able to prove it was a different neck with the unique grain pattern, and if it was a totally unprovable perfect crime, your warranty would still cover you.

    2x8 cabs?

I have gigged with a 2x8 for years, an Ashdown boxter. I've been very happy with it in all sorts of different ensembles. I recommend getting whichever 2x8 you choose either pointed at your head with a tilt, or up at chest level though. In small gigs, I've been able to carry the whole bass load...

    Fender/Reverb fiasco

You might find that you gain a relationship at that repair shop that is the best part of the whole experience...that would be a cool second order effect. Either way, I hope that when you get that bass back it feels and plays exactly how dreamed it would. Best of luck Trickyric!

    Fender/Reverb fiasco

Sounds like you might never be cool with this bass or the experience you've had. Life is too short to feel that continuing outrage and have a moment of bitterness every time you pickup the instrument. Might be best to just cut ties and roll on to the next instrument.

    Small Cab for Recording

I have an Ashdown boxter 2x8 that is a little miracle box. They aren't made any more, but I suspect some of the newer 2x8's would be competitive. Trace Elliot and Warwick are both making some that I've had my eye on.

    Hand injury. Now what?

In 2012 had the ring finger flexor tendon on my left (fretting) hand rupture completely. I followed the advice, and did all they asked for with the end result being a finger that is a little more bent than it used to be. As far as dexterity goes, I'd say it's about 90-95% of what it used to be...

G&L Basses...... What Kind Of Strings Do You Use?

I have an m2000, and I went with EB Slinkys for a few years. I liked them pretty well, but switched to DR Fatbeams about a year ago and have really enjoyed the sound and feel.

    Jazz Trio tips?

Restaurant gigs/ coffee house gigs are great! One tip to add to your list, have some variety in key signatures. Nothing will make your set sound like endless repetition faster than playing everything in the same two or three keys. You might also consider inviting a guest soloist to sit in...

We just Scored a Gig at a Strip Club

Haven't played the strip clubs, but did (just a few weeks ago) play for a special event at a nudist resort. It took about 10 minutes to adjust, but after that it wasn't even distracting. Nice folks, good crowd, lots of dancing.

    The band grenade just multipoloded

If you call in the right subs, learning the music in 10 days won't be a problem. I'd only be tempted to cancel if the players who left were the lead singer and lead soloing instrument. I wouldn't bring a duet where a full band was expected without the venue's express consent. Best of luck!
