Coronavirus discussion thread - NO POLITICS, or "POLITICS by PROXY"

I'm still in the hospital trying to get home. I'm kinda surprised given the size of this board, I'm the only one but, I guess I've always been lucky like that. When I was in the ICU, I was the only one not on a vent. When they wheeled me out, it really did feel like I was Neo looking at the...

Coronavirus discussion thread - NO POLITICS, or "POLITICS by PROXY"

I have been in the hospital covid + for a month. signed the DNR to refuse the vent, with my complex history the chances of ever getting of it where at best, remote. This is probably the 4th time the grime reaper has swung hard at me and missed. this is the hardest, darkest thing I have ever...

of all the things I've spent too much money on, I'm always surprised how much enjoyment I get out of that leather gig bag of mine.

Anyone use the old Sadowsky black label strings?

Yeah..I'm not real happy about the cost. I work a bunch and run two basses...a lot of outside, sweat soaked Florida work that will kill a brand new set of strings as soon as that sweat dries. If I was trying to shove bass notes past humbuckers and distortion pedals I wouldn't care either and I...

Anyone use the old Sadowsky black label strings?

Sadowsky is out of the string business?.....wow. What sharp, sudden, discomfort in the gluteus maximus. expletive deleted. up until a few minutes ago, I used about 3-4 boxes a year of those things. Just what I need another $500 string hunt buying strings for one gig only to get ripped off in...

    Would You Take This Gig?

yeah buddy, I used to do some gigs on some central florida catlle ranch in the middle of nothing for the cattleman's association that were just off the chain. I mean like they hired a circus and a fireworks company, had some girl in a sequin bikini walking around with a leopard on a chain..got...

Most Iconic and Desirable Bass Preamps (or preamps within bass amps)

Trace Elliot 80's era front ends, series 6 SMX for what I can only describe as being so fast, it's like the note is jumping off the neck before I let the string go. The GK RB front ends, just huge range of "sounds good" turning all those knobs The Demeter stuff. I like the HBP1 because it's the...

Was this an appropriate way to be fired?

OK let me just stop you right there. Whatever is going on there, you need to be away from. Whatever brings that about is a good thing in the long run. Whatever is keeping you there, is holding you back in the long run. imho

What’s the most you ever spent on 1 bass? And was it worth it?

Used Sadowsky PJ5 for 3 grand. 15 years ago when 3 grand was still "a lot of money" It's worked a conservative average of 300 gigs a year ever since and NEVER let me down

Small personal monitor or amp for tabletop?

I don't know where it came from, I think my wife got it with a keyboard she bought a long time ago but, I have one of these on my desk and it has been surprisingly useful for that kind of stuff. If something happened to it. I would probably replace it Roland CM-30 CUBE Monitor

Please, please recommend me a tuner...

Is being more careful so that you don't keep snapping the necks of the clip on's out of the realm of possibility? I mean, you like the clip on's ...you buy one built to take a hit and that force has to go somewhere, that somewhere is your headstock

I must be losing my mind because it looks like he invented a step wound Sadowsky string
