I sold my Markbass LMII Marco Limited Edition 08, and purchased the MB500. The LMII is just too warm when set flat. The VLE is pretty much a passive tone control...you can get the same effect using the tone/eq on your bass. I'm suprised that the LMII has no limiter or mute button.
I prefer...
I use D'Addario Chromes only because my fretless (SX) has a rosewood board. If it had an ebony board, I'd be using Nickel Wounds. I prefer the sound of Nickel Wounds, but I'm not willing to sacrifice the fretboard.
Their styles are at opposite ends of the spectrum. I've seen some of Jaco's playing, but I'm more familiar with Geddy. Could Jaco have replaced Geddy in Rush? Hell no! Could
Geddy have replaced Jaco? I doubt it. I'm a Geddy fan.
I ordered a P/J and a P/J fretless. When I received the fretless, the p (neck) pickup was bad. I emailed Kurt and he gave me the option of returning the bass, or him sending me a new pickup. I opted for the latter, and within a week I received the new pickup. Kurt has always responded to my...
Hey Talkbass Nation,
I'd like to know if any of ya'll have had any experience playing with both of these amps (or any others in the $400-$500 range). I've played the Bugera BVP5500 and the Peavey Tour 450 in local stores. They were pretty good, but I'd like some feedback on the MB2 500 and...
I tried the Dunlops a few months back. They had the perfect feel (texture/tension) , but I was disappointed with the tone. They had the mids and highs, but the low end was missing. There was a big drop off in tone with the low b and e, with both the nickels and stainless. I had to put the...
I've tried DR, Ernie Ball, Elixir, Blue Steel, SIT, and Dunop strings...but I always go back to Carvin (or Fender, they have a similar tone) strings. The Carvins produce a huge tone, especially on the low B. I believe they are made by Labella.
I would agree...the closer to ebony, the better. I have a fretless acoustic/electric with a rosewood board, and a fretless electric with an ebony board. I've found that the rosewood is not as durable, and requires flatwound or tapewound (my preference) strings to prevent marking. I use nickel...
My Dean EAB Fretless Acoustic/Electric had the same problem. There was very little output coming from the G string. I just removed the strings and the plastic saddle piece on top of the bridge, to expose the piezo. I noticed that it needed just a little more slack to reach the G string side of...
