Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

I got through graduate school working graveyard and attending classes just before work. Lead eyelids is a good description! The funny thing is that after I finished my MA, I discovered that I was too expensive to hire as a new teacher. But, things have worked out. Education in a lot of fields is...

6 String Bass guitar for life music with a PA system should i use a bass monitor or a RIG!

I play an Ibanez GVB-36 6 string into a Hartke LH-1000 1000w head and drive a Hartke Hy-Drive HX-410 cab and Hartke Hy-Drive HX-115 cab in bridge parallel mode. (2 x 8 ohm cabs in parallel that present a 4 ohm load to the amp head.) For about a year, I used the LH-1000 with the 410 cab. Then a...

The toughest Beatles song to learn

I have used many an isolated bass track to pick out what Paul and other notables did on a song. Paul really had a intonation problem on that Hofner violin bass as you can hear on songs like Something. My Hofner is the same way especially on the low E. It is fascinating stuff for sure!:smug:

    The Church gig thing

The client did not ask for the discount, I just gave it to her. Services requested do need to be paid but a little break on the total price...

The toughest Beatles song to learn

I don't know of any other book. There are a few websites that have transcriptions for some Fab Four songs. However, the complete score book is the best I have found. The newer edition is a little larger page wise.

    The Church gig thing

What I noticed right away when I first moved to Ft. Wayne, IN from California is the high rate of volunteerism in this city. People volunteer for almost everything here. The same is true of the musicians who play at the various churches in the area. The Music Directors are the paid staff member...

    The Church gig thing

When I lived in Germany in the 80s, the church service was very classic traditional off the air base. Hymns....some in Latin could be heard often in acapella. Here in Fort Wayne, at Saint Michael's where I play Saturday afternoon service with the group Life Song, it is Contemporary Christian...

Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Lake Wawasee is about an hour away from Ft Wayne. Borne and raised in Stockton, CA...California's inland sea port where summer temps like now can hit 117 F. 6K mark is a nice place to be. I remember driving through Flagstaff one summer and noticed the drop in temperature right away. 60s to...
