The sad part was that in this country the degree wasn’t recognised unless I went back to school for two years. With a wife and two kids to support I was never able to do that!. Still things did sort of work out alright in the end. :)

Lake Wawasee is about an hour away from Ft Wayne. Borne and raised in Stockton, CA...California's inland sea port where summer temps like now can hit 117 F. 6K mark is a nice place to be. I remember driving through Flagstaff one summer and noticed the drop in temperature right away. 60s to 80s for the most part is what we get here in Ft Wayne excluding those few days of 90s and high humity...lol.

Earthquake update: This school is about one kilometer as the crow flies from our house. Located directly on the fault line and epicenter of previous and the latest quakes. Apparently last year's big one weakened it and the midnight shaker two nights ago finished the job. Nobody was injured as both happened at night.
Today I'm fixing some new cracks in the walls in our house.

Wow, that's really a shame sir Brian. Thank goodness that happened at night while the school was empty.

You just don't know how lucky you are until you see things like this! What a blessing that it was night time and school wasn't in session. I hope your next few days and nights are quieter than the last couple.

I think the building had been empty since last year's big one (7.1 on the Richter). The latest one (4.7) finished it off.
To be clear, my wife, daughter and I are fully aware of the risks. We made a fully informed choice to move here 7 years ago and have not regretted one minute of it.
Fortunately our house is built to pretty good standards earthquake wise. The cracks that showed up are strictly cosmetic.
