    What's On Your Workbench?

Been a while since I posted so I thought I would share a lovely tool I recently added to the shop. This is the “fractal fret press” by JEdwards Guitars. Really loving it for compound radiuses, which is pretty much all I do. I have talked to him on Instagram a few times and he is a super nice...

    What's On Your Workbench?

Working on a multiscale variant of my Type M guitar, pretty excited about this one. This is my first multiscale project, and new builds are always fun. This one has a flame maple top & back with a swamp ash core, maple neck & fretboard.

    Wood sources?

The spot I have been using lately for surprisingly good tops is American Specialty hardwoods when they have stock. I buy their 2A flame tops for guitars and they are usually pretty spectacular at a good price. There is no guarantee of course, so I use them for prototypes or backs. Here are a...

    Short scale 5er

They weren’t flats, but I thought they worked great! It was kind of a pain finding strings too (this was a 30” scale)

Using water based products for instrument finishing, Target Coatings 9000 6000 and Varathane WB

This is helpful! I use the Dekups system right now and have been considering giving 3M a look. It will probably come down to cost, as I feel the systems are pretty similar.

The Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club

Speaking of IEMs, anyone here ever switch from Shure 215s to 425s? It’s a reasonably priced upgrade if you aren’t wanting to go big, and I’m considering it but I’m wondering if the difference is appreciable.

Winter Build Off 2022 - Get Ready

Nice! I have a build I’ve been thinking about for a while I would like to squeeze in here, although I need to figure out how to tie it in with the theme. This will give me an excuse to finally start it!

    What's On Your Workbench?

On the bench: New 4-string build! Just glued up the blank for the Alder core and top (this one will be chambered). Something magical about the start of a new build.

    Lets see those P5's !!

My version of a PJ (with a soapbar in the bridge position). This is my main player and I just can’t seem to put it down.

    Build diary - 33” 4-String Scale PJ

Here are a few quick audio samples. I keep forgetting to post these in build diaries, I need to do better at that. These are just the bass plugged straight into an M-Audio interface, no eq, compression etc. Both pickups, Tone control 75% Neck pickup, Tone control 75% Bridge pickup, Tone...
