They alter your sound. You'll probably cut through the mix like crazy. Some people like those things. /snark I just "like" the way certain effects work - mostly overdrives, phasers, and pattern generation like my Moog murf. I actively try in my original music to incorporate these sounds...

Now we're talking...this voicing control is what I've been waiting for since this thread started. Continually amazed at what they've been able to do with this little amp.

Also, the Deluxe pedal seems like it would be overkill to me if you aren't even sure if you like the old, single channel VT pedal. I'd pick up a used one and see if you like/need more than one sound out of it.

I use them both, at the same time. I generally don't like using the VT as an effect since I have problems getting the gain set right. All the gain I ever will use with my passive P is from about 7 to 9oclock on the dial. Very sensitive. Tonewise, I think different folks will like both. My TC...

I love the cocktail napkin message. I've used a Keeley, Demeter, EHX Black Finger, and a Barge RC-3. While all of them do one or two things that the others couldn't do, my favorite all-around was the Demeter stomp box.

I've only owned a Big Block and agree with Crabby's post. It's a great amp.

I found that the feature set of the TC unit made me overlook slight issues I had with the sound. With a VT bass pedal or another preamp that you love, it's an amazing setup.

All that damage internally...what did the exterior boxes look like?

+1. I've used Field Services for amp repair, though never for cabinets. They did good work, but they get busy.

It looks like particle board to me too. You have some options, but staining will likely look bad since the stain will soak into the different wood parts at a different rate. It will be varying shades of red.

This is probably the most exciting thing going on Talkbass right now. I cannot wait until people start exchanging presets. This is what I envisioned ever since I saw this amp's specs. So if you had a complete parameter control over the device, could you measure the output of other amp/cabinet...
