    Double Bass Just going DI?

hey guys thanks for all the insight. I will for sure get ahold of the sound guy before the gig and make sure I have my own monitor. For recording I like to have a DI and a mic so I will see if possible to have that same set up, although I may also have a vocal mic and to have 2 mics as opposed...

    Double Bass Just going DI?

I have looked through the n00b FAQ's and this seems like a topic that would have been covered so I apologize if I couldn't find a thread on it. I am playing a gig this weekend with a singer and 2 acoustic guitars at a venue that has a decent PA. The guitar players are just bringing DI's and...

    Total noob- suggestions appreciated

If you can afford the LMKIII go ahead, pairing it with a 410 cab (im sure it was sitting on top of one at GC) will give you plenty of power and punch to compete with your guitar players. It would be nice to have an 810 speaker cab but, any gig that is big enough to need that will have their own...

Overdrive which keeps low end WITHOUT a mix knob?

For a fairly traditional tube overdrive type sound, I use the Sansamp VT Bass. It keeps low end just fine, and just adds a preamp gain type drive sound.

Ever forget to plug your bass in?

While switching basses, our drummer started the song before I was ready, and in my panic I forgot to plug back in. However, the song had a lot of fuzz and was in Bb, so when I turned the mute off, since the cord was on the ground, the 60Hz hum with fuzz, kinda sounded like the riff; this was...

    Styx Bassists Mic Preamp?

Ok, I've got a question here, If you are running through some pedals, would you put that before or after the DI? I understand the difference, Im asking peoples opinions here. Personally, I play fairly small clubs where they will have a backline provided with a DI sitting on top of the amp. So...

fender geddy lee jazz bass slap and pop

A pro setup job including new strings can really do wonders. If you are thinking it is the bass and not your technique or EQ or anything else, get a full setup job first, all J-Basses should be great for slapping.

Pedal to bring out my slap & pop?

I do not play too much slap, but I have an EBS MultiComp and then a Sansamp BDDI at the front of my signal chain and between the too of those you can get some big slap tones. The EBS is a great transparent compressor and you can boost the gain, and if it is not scooped or overdriven enough for...

    New Bass?

I would say start with that list, check out there websites, and then browse their list of dealers. If you can find one near you, chances are they specialize in those sorts of custom shop basses - then you could get your fingers on one of those beauties.

    Looking to upgrade, any advice?

I would agree with Deluxe on this, but if you are used to the active humbucker type sound of the schecter, you could try a Music Man. Much better built than your current bass, made in USA and matches your price range.
