DR Strings Silence

Don’t you suppose something like 99% of their incoming contacts are “I bought this string set and the D string broke and that means it’s defective and definitely not because it’s my first time installing a string”...

It's sad, but very true ^

You also have to deal with trolls, people who just want to vent on someone, and questions that are outright nonsensical. There's also a lot of turnover for the very reasons listed in the previous sentence. A lot of it may be automated by filtering out messages containing certain keywords or phrases. If it has "Free", links to other websites, or perhaps expletives in the message it might discard them before a human sees them.

...“I found a single G in my mom’s garage from before I moved out and it looks dirty. Can I still use it?”

NEVER use a dirty G string, especially from your Mom's garage :smug:

If you want a customer service that's responsive, try SIT. They're nothing short of amazing! At least that's been my experience.

Massive thumbs up for SIT. After 20 years of playing I just had my first issue with a set of their strings. Reached out to them and not only were they responsive but they agreed and replaced the set.

Not sure what your issue is. I will say, In my field of work, cigars; when one of my customers gets a problem cigar, we just let them get another cigar and damage it out.

Nobody, but maybe 1%, call or email, say Montecristo and air their grievance.

I might take your beef up, with the seller vs the manufacturer.

I do find, if you are inclined to leave bad reviews somewhere, there is a likelihood corporate has somebody hawk- eying the reviews and respond.
DR IS the seller. Sheesh.

If they are anything like HR where I work, it may take a few days to get any results. I would have patience. You would be surprised at how small these businesses are(people wise). People work from home half the time also...or somebody is on vacation. I bet DR has about 5 total corporate employees and a few reps.

I've never had a reason to email them. Never broken a string. Never had a set with a dead string. If they keep that up, I'll keep buying them. Whether they answer their email or not.

Someone posted here that DR is in all Guitar Center locations. They have obviously sold out to mass marketing - private equity bought them?
Ha ha. Apple has bought them out. From now on, you'll only be able to use DR strings on Mac basses.

Probably 3-4 years ago I bought a set of Legend Flats, and the E string was clearly off. I emailed them, got a response within a day, and they sent me another string for free. But things can change in 3-4 years I suppose.

“Dearest DR, I would like to endorse your strings and get them all for free. Im sure you’re quite flattered!”
….(minutes pass)….
“Why are you not answering meeeeeee “

Ah ha! So they do read the online submissions but only respond to those they choose. Isn't that akin to giving a middle finger salute?

You really want to take it that personally? I doubt companies like DR give me that much thought as to give me the middle finger salute. I'm just not that interesting.

Since you haven't answered two questions, 1. Did you try calling? (posed 2 times), and 2. What's the content/context of your contact form? (posed 4 times), it presents the appearance, accurate or not, that you've created this thread only to whine & complain.

Not true? Then how about you help us out and answer the questions that've been repeatedly asked? You know, have a conversation about it rather than being non-responsive after reading the posts here and only responding to those you choose?

Otherwise, you might run the risk of someone taking that as you giving them the middle finger.

Pocket it Dave. Hear that loud "ZING"? That's the point whizzing past your head.

I got the point alright. You did a contact form twice and got nada. Boohoo.

Way to give the benefit of the doubt before whining on a Google-searchable public forum:

Companies are short-handed. They may have overestimated the effectiveness of creating that form.

OTOH, they have a phone number on that same contact page and an invitation to call it. Apparently you haven't and won't.

You've also resisted providing any context. For all we know, you're contact inquiry may have been in the same tone you're demonstrating here in multiple posts.

Or it could've been an inquiry about something they already address in their packaging.

We'll never know I guess.

And you'll probably never know if you don't call.

FWIW, their website looks like it could use an overhaul. You want to hold that against them and no longer do business with them? Have at it.

Otherwise, your refusal to call them and refusal to provide us with valuable context and engage in an actual conversation leaves us only limited conclusions about your motives for starting this thread.

Good luck with all that.

Geez Dave, take a pill and loosen your helmet. I just wanted to ask DR a simple question:

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood. Is that so hard?

Thanks for responding, finally.

Still no actual conversation?

You've gone online to complain without support about a company on a forum with thousands of members, searchable by millions.

Kinda irresponsible, doncha think?

Me? I'm good.

P.S. glad to see DR chiming in. I'm not a big fan of their strings as a personal taste preference, but have heard much high praise for the company over the years. Talk about a legacy, too - The Dronge family of Alfred Dronge/NYC-Jazz-Era Guild Guitars fame.
