DR Strings Silence

DR have been my go to strings for the last 15 years. I've contacted them, once about a defective string and once about a possible string material issue, got responses and conversation on both counts. For me I believe they make great strings and have always been responsive and wanting to know the most they can and make right any discrepancies. Again for me top notch product, and service.

If you want a customer service that's responsive, try SIT. They're nothing short of amazing! At least that's been my experience.
Let's not forget that SIT strings are really good, and fairly priced too.

I've emailed SIT twice:
  • First time was asking for a tension chart - they provided it within 24 hours.
  • Second time, I had a low E fail in a unique way - the output dropped significantly, like the metal became less magnetic - they shipped out a replacement within 24 hours.

It only takes one and the OP is the one. 30+ years using DR, I have had issues with strings in the past. They are hand wound stings and stuff happens once in a while. Once while installing, I had 2 B strings break on me in the same night. The problem was resolved with 1 phone call and about 3 minutes of my time. Far less time than the OP has spent on here bashing them for little to no reason. Some customers are not worth having.

We all have one of those too.

Why don't you tell us what you need and we'll collectively decide if it warrants a response.
I believe he got his answer, but the point of some other posters was, had he mentioned what his question was, someone is this huge community may have known the answer.

Now, knowing what the question was (that he refused to divulge, oddly) that likely would have been the case.

The answer to my question was NOT the issue. I was remarking on the lack of response from DR. Oddly, that seemed to escape some people around here.

The amount of communication coming in is probably overwhelming for the number of people in their customer service department. It's easy to say, hey you're making money you should just hire more people, without knowing the inner workings of this company. Maybe a limited budget for customer service allows them to offer strings at a lower price point. I am detecting here some of the inflated self entitlement I have encountered in similar businesses. Everybody thinks if they spend $30 on something that they deserve 24/7 immediate service even if it is a totally unnecessary time wasting inquiry.

Judging by the unbelievable amounts of cluelessness, entitled nit-picking, and general rudeness on the web in general, I shudder to think what customer service crews at any organization go through. And just like traffic in the big cities, you can never build enough road, smaller companies can't possibly hire enough people to handle it all.

I have no idea about the OP's situation and no experience with DR. I do know in my own experience that some civility and empathy for the person you need to help you on the other end of the call or EMail has helped me every time. If for no other reason that I'm not threatening to eat them alive like the last 6 customers they spoke to.

What you're detecting is your own hypothetical musings.

If they don't have enough staff to reply, don't invite online submissions.

I myself love my mother tongue in all it's expressiveness way to much to work in customer service.

Sometimes have to point out that I feel really angry but I realise it's not customer service to blame and please don't take this personally. Often end such calls with a strong impression Mz International Call Centre is trying way beyond "Is there anything else I can help you with?" to keep me on the line just a little longer
