DR Strings Silence

Just a wild guess so grain of salt.

Don’t you suppose something like 99% of their incoming contacts are “I bought this string set and the D string broke and that means it’s defective and definitely not because it’s my first time installing a string” or “I found a single G in my mom’s garage from before I moved out and it looks dirty. Can I still use it?”

And the 1% is probably a legit inquiry that points towards a future sale or actual customer service maintenance.

If they had to hire and rehire and rehire people to respond to all the dumb comments they’d have to raise prices.

Seriously, asking out of curiosity.
Can someone post an example of a question they Did respond to and an example of one they didn’t?

"What battery?"

If you want a customer service that's responsive, try SIT. They're nothing short of amazing! At least that's been my experience.
Rotosound as well. Consistently respond next day. SIT do indeed have great customer service. They were very helpful when I inquired about a string set for my USA Peavey Cirrus 4 which is 35" scale.

The only time I've dealt with DR customer service was over the phone and the person was quite rude from what I remember. I had a dead string in a set of Fat Beams . At first they didn't believe me and said how rare it was for that to happen but I sent them a copy if my receipt and received an entire new set within a few days. Not bashing DR. I still like their strings but it changed my opinion of them for awhile.

If they can't or won't respond for the reasons you gave, then delete that function from their website instead of, in effect, telling legit customers to F Off and don't bother us.

Anyway, I'm done with them. Someone posted here that DR is in all Guitar Center locations. They have obviously sold out to mass marketing - private equity bought them?

They have been in Guitar Centers for 20 years or more

Ah!

Should have led with that.

He or she would chuck all the wood that a woodchuck could. If a woodchuck could chuck wood.

has the time come where we have to clarify he or she in the woodchuck riddle , dang I thought this was one of the only places I didn’t have to uh.. say your pronouns before your name :roflmao:

I actually contacted them last week using the contact form. They responded within the hour and offered a replacement string for the one I broke. I responded with my address, and they thanked me for getting it to them so quickly and said the string will be on its way soon.

Haven't gotten the string yet, but I was pretty impressed with the fast response to the "inexperienced novice broke B string on first 5 string bass" inquiry.

I dealt with them directly years back and they were always responsive, though it sometimes took a while and a few tries. Sounds like they've grown less attentive to emails.... :(

They have changed quite a bit over the last few years. I used to have a deal with them, but the folks who ran the show are largely retired and gone and now they don't know who I am or care (and, I guess, nor should they. They don't seem to want to help the little guys out anymore). It's become a much bigger company.

That said, I just tried some Low Beams on my TBX 6 last week that I had ordered years ago and never used. Now I wonder why I waited so long! The B string is so perfect (I was playing at the Ball Arena in Denver, which is a boomy room designed for sportsing and having the extra definition was really helpful). I had always used Sunbeams, but it's now time to try some of the others.

If a large retailer wants to buy thousands of units of your product this is called “good for business” not “selling out.”

The answer to my question was NOT the issue. I was remarking on the lack of response from DR. Oddly, that seemed to escape some people around here.

So you’re mad DR won’t answer a question, and then refused to answer questions here on TB yourself? Did I miss something?

Thanks for the laugh! The guy who gets online to bash a company’s lack of response also has a lack of response.

Also I’m going to go buy some DR strings. The willingness of Anthony at DR strings to log in and post to a hostile thread has won points in my book.

Everyone post when you buy some DR strings! (Till this thread is locked).

Good for you! Now loosen your helmet. I didn't mean to upset you so.
