Triaging signal noise in home studio configuration

I have? I confirmed the issue persisted with the switcher completely out of the equation (bass > amp > cabinet), which was why the Q of cables and/or better shielding may be a solution. It's tough though, since my Rob Allen Mouse (active, piezo pickups) also has this issue, but there's no...

Triaging signal noise in home studio configuration

It honestly might be worth it to just do a sweep of all my cables regardless. I did notice just now when I touch the cables connected to the back of the switcher the signal goes away, so again I can't seem to pin down where thing originate!

Triaging signal noise in home studio configuration

It is, ugh I feel like I'm losing my mind. Should I seek to get all my basses better shielded?

Triaging signal noise in home studio configuration

Yeah - the noise is present when just messing with the cable. I spoke with a friend who's a guitarist/tech and that's when the convo of dirty power came about.

Triaging signal noise in home studio configuration

Thanks! Right now I'm not even factoring the computer into this, it's purely the speaker system. The current config is this: Bass > pedalboard (using a looper for everything) > De Lisle amp/cab switcher > Amp (either an Ampeg SB12 or Aguilar AG500SC) > Bergantino 112

Triaging signal noise in home studio configuration

I'm trying to isolate where a nasty, pitchy noise is coming from in the home studio setup I've been building. I have been going through the steps to identify the cause of this. I've found a lot of videos about 50-60 cycle hum, but nothing I've seen replicates this distinctly pitchy noise I'm...

SOLD Noble Dual Vacuum Tube Preamp/DI #15

An early representation of what has become a part of every gigging and recording bassist's gear! At #15 (photo below), this is one of Jack's earliest models- only six off from Janek's #9! I sent this over to Jack early last year to replace one of the 9v plugs and for a complete servicing, and...

No longer available Guild Newark St. Collection Starfire I

I grabbed this from a consignment shop this past winter. This is a great adaptation of the classic Starfire semi-hollow basses. It is adorned with a maple top, sides, back, and neck, in a cherry stain with a poly finish. Also comes with straplocks and an OHSC. Will consider shipping CONUS...

No longer available Rare 2014 Ribbecke Halfling Bobby Vega

An absolutely stunning Bobby Vega Halfling by master luthier Tom Ribbecke from 2014. I bought this about a year ago, and while I love the aesthetic of this instrument, I don't think this is right for me. The woods leveraged are Flamed Maple for the sides, back, and neck, and a great carved...

    Precision Bass Power Battle

Morning friends... Hope most of y'all are enjoying a day off jamming! Question for you: If money were no object in acquiring a new Fender Precision, which of these two heavy hitters would you jump on?

PYPB 44: ...like Tetris with boxes, wires and cables

UPDATE! I already made a tweak to the board diagram, and have the setup almost fully wired. Probably could be cleaner with some custom-length cables, but that'll come in the next iteration (whenever that is...).

Here's the latest for my big board (posted on here in a few spots, but included a visual representation of wiring while I wait for cable ties in the mail)

    Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

It's been a great set-and-forget effect! If you're not interested in a trap tempo delay for great spaciness, I highly recommend ✨

    Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

Giving my big board a refresh, waiting on better cables and velcro to reload everything. No current projects, but just love the ability to switch between SVT sounds and really crazy synth tones. The two Dunlops control bit depth (Geiger Counter), and filter sweep (Barbanera)

    Strawberry Girls Pedalboard ID!

Hey, Found this image on Tumblr of Ian Jennings (Strawberry Girls) pedalboard. I can easily identify the Memory Man, Whammy, M.P. Blueberry, MXR Gate, Markbass pre, Polytune, and Boss Equalizer. Two Qs coming off this: 1.) Can folks confirm that it's a Darkglass B3K photographed? 2.) Can...

All good! That's a Fender Roscoe Beck Signature 5 from the late 90s. Fully passive, and the best-feeling low B I've ever experienced on a Fender

Recently grabbed another grail in the form of a Ribbecke Hafling, which prompted me to take a new family portrait. Think I've got all my bases (basses?) covered, now!

Tremolo pedals and who use them ?

The board is still WIP right now, but I've always loved using my Diamond tap tempo. Coupled with the Freeze, I can sustain some pretty awesome sounds

Pedal Breeders' BIG Board Club Part II: Biggins'

Currently working on this monster... I need to mount the Voodoo and TREX underneath before she gets plugged in again, but the range of sounds I get out of this are amazing. The chain is a bit complicated, so bear with me: Korg tuner > Demeter Compulator > Boss OC-2 > Wounded Paw Wah Blender >...

For Sale Zon Sonus 5 string

Hey! Looking to sell my Zon Sonus 5'er that I've got off here a few years ago. I contacted Joe a while back to get more details on the bass, and he confirmed it's a 2000 model in Midnight Purple (GREAT sparkle in the light). This is a PRE Bartolini-era Zon with Zon branded pickups. Recently...

Pedal Breeders' BIG Board Club Part II: Biggins'

@Feral Feline Thanks! Yeah, so far having the OC-2 and the Bit Commander on blended parallel signals really helps to keep a deep, synthy rumble underneath all the noise. :bassist:

Pedal Breeders' BIG Board Club Part II: Biggins'

Coming back after a couple years of hibernation. Recently got the itch to start tinkering with my board, with the attached being v1 of the rebuild. It's becoming a pretty complicated setup, but I think the results will be worth it. Let me know what y'all think! Signal path: Korg Pitchblack...

    Aguilar - Official 'Tone Hammer 500' 3.8lbs 500w Megathread!

Everything is nowadays! The average American is exposed to 3000 (!) advertisements a day, which is terrifying but holds considerable food for thought. I tried many of the lightweight amps and had a very long conversation over at Bass Specialties before making my decision on an SC. I just...

    Aguilar - Official 'Tone Hammer 500' 3.8lbs 500w Megathread!

I was at Aguilar a little over a year ago for the G. Veasley masterclass and asked if they were considering making a class D unit for the portable amp market. I was kindly told off with they'd "rather make an amp with a little more weight and better tone." They cited the 18lb ag500 as their...
