    Dual P bridge pickup hum

I forgot about this thread. For the record, I sent this pickup to Tom Brantley and he said it wasn't grounded to center. A correct rewind solved this issue.

    WD pickguards question

Hi. Im trying to find a tort pickguard for my EBMM SR5. WD has several colors in stock but they are all listed as “through neck”. I am having a difficult time understanding this as I am certain the BO necks are more common. So before I go through the hassle of their custom order process, does...

Jack White looking cool with a Jazz Bass

Just found this thread. Sorry. I was recently reminded of this photo and just knew there had to be a thread on here about it. Of course after reading a few posts I thought I had wandered into another Joe Dart thread! Jack White rocks!!!

Is it ever acceptable to wear shorts at a gig?

I dont understand who makes these rules or why we are supposed to think it matters.

    SVT issues

Well it lasted a week with no issues. I flipped it on today and the oscillation came back. I reseated the tubes again and turned it on and the oscillation is gone. BUT , this time the right bias light never came on. Left is green. I tried biasing but cant get it. Red light comes on if i go too...

    SVT issues

Well im actually in Tillamook. There is nobody out here. Ive got a fantastic tech in Beaverton who basically rebuilt my Bassman 100. He is a whiz with Fenders and Marshalls etc. but will not touch the SVT. I have had it on every day since securing the tubes( i checked them all) and there has...

    SVT issues

Im going to take it in anyway. I cant be sure i fixed anything or if its just intermittent and something is about to smoke. All i know about tube amps I read on here and I havent found a post describing this issue. I understand its impossible to diagnose with a poor video. Thank you all for...

    SVT issues

The bias lights were flickering red to green in time with the oscillation. Once i re seated the tubes they went back to solid green and have stayed that way. That video begins as i turned on the amp, once it warmed up, the noise and flickering bias lights began, then i turned it off. 25 seconds...

    SVT issues

One of the power tubes was, in fact, not completely seated, it was actually “lop sided”. Could this have caused it?

    SVT issues

Thank you, Wasnex. It looks like Inner Sound will be my best bet. I suppose I could have found that info myself. In the meantime, I reseated all the tubes and have not been able to recreate the issue. Ive had it on for hours at a time over the last few days and it seems fine. Im still not...

    SVT issues

https://youtube.com/shorts/uKeelO_d9Dw?feature=share This issue is intermittent. I can play it for hours with no problem then the next day, this. Ive got it going through an an Aggie DB212 4ohm. Plugged into a Furman power strip. The volume is at 0 in the video. If anyone knows a GOOD amp tech...

Why get a Nash, Lull, Lakland, etc. Fender replica when you can get a Fender?

These threads are silly and never go anywhere. Why do you guys keep doing this to yourselves? Just buy em all. Thats my life goal. I am .2% of the way there.

    Dual P bridge pickup hum

There is shielding. Its wired correctly to my eyes. Black is ground yellow is hot. I took the covers off the pickup and do notice a difference. On the neck pickup the windings are very dark on both the bass and treble pickups. The bridge pickup is different: the treble side is dark but the bass...

    Dual P bridge pickup hum

I just resoldered the bridge pickup with no change. Grounding is solid. Any input would be appreciated. Both pickups seem identical so I'm struggling to understand why one would behave differently if not for the wiring scheme. Shouldn't, at the very least, both pickups together cancel any hum...

    Dual P bridge pickup hum

Hi. So I picked up a G&L L5000 in the classifieds here a short time ago with a dual pickup configuration. These are "Z coils" but I assumed they were basically split coils like a traditional P. The neck pickup sounds awesome. Very powerful and quiet. The bridge pickup sounds good too but hums...

    Ampeg SVT-CL question

Ok. So that answers both questions. I have seen posts that claimed this amp should never be ran through anything higher than what it was set at. Perhaps I missed the context. Thanks much.

    Ampeg SVT-CL question

Hi. I just purchased a used SVT-CL. I have not received it. I have impedance questions that were not clearly answered( for me ) in the sticky or any of the threads that I could find. I believe the person I purchased this from may have been running it through an 8 ohm cab. I have no idea for...

    Gigging without rehearsals

Relatively new myself. But from what I've seen so far..yeah this is pretty much the deal. We're bass players. Half the bands I've seen would hire a monkey to do it if they could. It has actually helped me a lot though, made me more flexible.

    Gigging without rehearsals

I am in a similar situation. I hooked up with a country band about a month ago. We have had about 3 practices but I have yet to practice with the entire band. I've practiced with everybody but the lead guitarist, or everybody but the singer(only practiced with the singer once), everybody but the...

    Country headache

I agree. I see now it's a topic discussed on here quite frequently. I should visit this site more often. I hope it works. I'm not doing it myself. I'll fine tune my bass but i don't want to mess with the trial and error of neck relief and nut filing. I took it to a guy who came highly...

    BEAD?

I'm in the process of doing this very thing to my MIM jazz right now. Is it necessary to use a 5 string nut and just file off the extra bit? Or can I just modify the existing nut. I need this pretty quick and can't find anybody local that carries a 5 string nut. I don't have time to wait for a...

    black kids!!!?!!!

I had never heard them until now. I'm not into pop but that bass player is pretty good. Real busy. Looks like he plays a Ric. Have you tried learning by ear? That song sounds intimidating because he's moving so much but it's really not that bad. I'd help ya out but I just don't tab.

    Country headache

Alright, I've decided just to set my Mexican Jazz up BEAD, maybe raise the action and put some flatwounds on it or something. I want to keep the MM set up for slap as it sounds MUCH better. It's the best I can do for now. For the record, when I joined the band, they had taken a break from...

    Country headache

Because i'm the only one who passed the audition apparently. I'm a good bass player and would like to expand my horizons a bit. My drummer from my old high school band asked me to audition because they were having problems finding a good player. We haven't played together in years. I don't hate...
