P Bass Ultra II Brand new out of the box, is this normal?

It wasn’t a bass but a few months back I ordered a 75th Anniversary American Vintage ii 1954 Stratocaster because I played one somewhere and really liked it. When it arrived the bridge pickup was either dead, or the selector switch was dead- no sound from the bridge. Sent it back and got a...

Have current Indonesian Squiers surpassed the MIJ 80s Squiers?

I’d be down for a Squier Nitro finish Vintage series @ $1000

Have current Indonesian Squiers surpassed the MIJ 80s Squiers?

I just purchased a vintage edition satin p-bass by mail from zzounds and this bass is better in all respects than all the MIM Basses I’ve owned and better than one of my American Standards. The pickups sound good; the electronics are quiet and the tone pot is actually great; it stays in tune...

“One of a Kind” Player Series Jazz?

I wouldn’t know if it was or wasn’t by just looking but here is the best pic I could get thanks everyone for your input and replies.

“One of a Kind” Player Series Jazz?

it’s not a satin finish on the body, gloss rather. Yet the neck is ( to me at least) obviously slightly different in its profile to other Player Jazz basses. it’s definitely Pau board. I think it’s just probably a straight up weirdo-in-a-good-way Player series off the line anomaly type of...

“One of a Kind” Player Series Jazz?

Hey everyone. This isn’t a post to brag about how great my Bass is, but really to get some info or opinions if possible as to what’s up with my Bass. So I don’t know how to else to say it but I suspect my Player Series Jazz is significantly different from other Player Series Jazz basses...

    NBD: Fender Player Precision

Theses player series basses are amazing. I have a jazz. Ordered a p as well but send it back, not because it wasn’t great, because it was, but because I think I’d rather have another Jazz so I can keep one with flats and the other with rounds.

Fender Rumble Studio 40 owners tell me about the amp...

I just bought one from Guitar Center. It was the floor model but without asking they offered my a 2 year protection plan, which is great because my main concern was the screen dying and then the amp being useless. This amp is amazing in so many ways. I’m gonna save up and see if they release...

    La Bella Gold

Awesome customer service. I just purchased my first set of Labellas, 760fl, love them and am now glad I purchased strings from this company.

Is your bass strung with DR Black Beauties ?

I had them on a white Ibanez Sr with black hardware. Looked killer. Felt not so great, sounded just OKAY for a little white followed by then sounding like dead rounds in a not-so-cool kinda way. Then flaked and didn’t even look killer anymore. Just my experience.

The Official Fender Player Series Bass Club

I guess maybe I could push for one, but I’ve also returned or exchanged my fair share of items at guitar center that were not exactly how I got them and never was asked a single question about it. I guess rightly assuming that within a 30-45 day trial period a guitar isn’t going to remain mint...

The Official Fender Player Series Bass Club

Im already a club member via the jazz I purchased. An exceptional example of a jazz at any price point, tbh. It was an amazing instrument. However I returned it for Player series P because as amazing as it was, 90% of what I do and am really into is nailed by a P-bass. Anyways, I got my player P...

    I simply cannot slap...

For me it was necessary to start out by thumping the living crap out of my bass in order to “get it”. Now I don’t have to hit it quite as hard to get the desired effect. Oh, and spending a lot of time thumping and actively listening. Pure technique practice. I still cannot use it in a...

    F# and E natural in a F minor key?

    F# and E natural in a F minor key?

Hi everyone. There is a particular song, “Que Lío”, by Hector Lavoe, that I’ just started learning. The song seems to be in F Minor, but the main bass line has an E natural and F# in it. At least, that’s what I am hearing when I play along wearing headphones. Maybe my ear is just way off. If...

    Fret Board ?

The only time I remember that the fingerboard on my player Jazz is pau ferro and not rosewood is when I see the bass from afar sitting on its stand and notice the wood is slightly lighter in color... or when on I get on TB. I can’t say I notice a difference. I played two player series basses...

    I simply cannot slap...

I just started this video and am to exercise4 towards the beginning and one thing that hasn’t been addressed is whether or not the palm should rest or not rest on the strings. When my arm rotates for a slap the meaty part of my palm below the thumb naturally makes contact with the E/A strings...

Switching from Rounds to Flats Advice

I feel you on this. I love the sound of flats on my Jazz, and often times seek that P w/ flats kind of sound, which this bass does very well. But the bass speaks best and is most versatile with rounds on it. I really like having just one bass to use for everything, but I’m gonna have to break...

    The Fender 7250m Fanclub

These came on an amazing Jazz I just picked up. I tried DAdarrio (nickle rounds and chrome flats, as well as a set of Labella 760fls (which were amazing!) the bass sounds amazing whatever you put on it, but it sounds best with these Fender strings. It’s gives it the tone that floored me solid...

History of White Pickguards on burst Fenders Jazz basses?

That’s always been my personal sentiment. However, this PARCHMENT (booshie white) Pickguard has grown on me pretty wickedly. I guess it’s a matter of becoming fond of something by positive association (this particular bass is awesome) even though it’s contrary to my well established taste.

History of White Pickguards on burst Fenders Jazz basses?

Love the burst on that. Always been a fan of the more yellowish burst. If I had a bass that looked that way Tortoise would be the only way to go for sure

History of White Pickguards on burst Fenders Jazz basses?

Hello everyone. I got to wondering what the history of sunburst Jazz basses with white pickguards was like. Of course, tortoise shell is the iconic pg color. I love tortoise shell and all it’s retro vibe, and even ordered a tortoise shell pg to replace the white one on my new players series...

What’s the most times you’ve changed string on a new bass?

Nice replies. I think it’s a matter of liking a string vs “can I actually use that sound”. I love the sound of this Jazz with rounds, but everything I love playing (60s-70s psychedelic rock / funk / soul) comes off better with flats fo sho. I’m gonna give these Labellas coming in tomorrow...

Why does the Rumble 500 seem to be more popular than the GK MB210 ???

Honestly the GC I was going to when I started out had good representations of the Fender and Ampeg line of amps, but super skimpy on the GK stuff... and I was looking to familiarize myself with the GK gear because it was used by a hero of mine. an ampeg i had borrowed caught on fire, so I went...

What are your favorite flatwounds for a Jazz Bass?

I’ve only ever used chromes as far as flats are concerned but I’ve used chromes on various basses, so I’m familiar with the sound... to the point where maybe I’m too familiar with them and just need to try a different flat for once. I wish they had more “something” to them. I always end up...

2021 Let's listen to full albums this year!

Great thread. I did the same thing a few years back as a New Years resolution: I would listen to entire albums only, no skipping, shuffling. If I had to take a break, next time I wanted to listen to music, I’d have to finish whatever album I had left off on. It was a great year of music listening.

What’s the most times you’ve changed string on a new bass?

Dude and dudettes... I feel 100% neurotic. I just got a new Jazz bass, a really, REALLY good one and I think I have swapped out the stock round wound strings to Flats and back to the stock roundwounds at least 7 times in the 10 days or so that I’ve had this bass while trying to decide if I want...

The Official Fender Player Series Bass Club

Hey thanks! For sure on the blending. As soon as I heard this bass it inspired me to really dig into what different tones I could get and it seems that the range is extremely wide. The Official Fender Player Series Bass Club

I’ve had this bass for a week and half now and it’s hands down the best bass I’ve ever owned. I wasn’t even a “jazz bass guy” until this bass. I didn’t even walk into GC expecting to buy a bass, much less a jazz, but this thing is amazing at any price point. Went back the next day to buy it and...
