Fender Dimension basses: I'M GASsing... are YOU GASsing?

No opinion on the bass, but the guy who thought that this page: Invalid Link Removed was a good idea deserves to be slapped around at least a little bit.

My WH Fat Sandwich for your WH Pork Loin

Title says it all. I love the Fat Sandwich, but it's a little too high gain for me and that ground is covered by my Swollen Pickle. I'll get some pics up soon. Not really interested in selling at the moment.

    FS/FT TC Flashback

Title say it all. TC Electronic Flashback Delay and Looper. This pedal is hands-down the best delay I've ever used, and it's amazingly simple to use. I'm only selling because I've upgraded to the x4. Tore Morgenson does a great job showing all the cool stuff you can do with it: And now with...

SOLD FS/FT: Squier Chris Aiken Precision

Although I don't have access to an accurate scale right now, I can say that it's lighter than my 9.5 lb Marcus Miller Jazz by a wiiiide margin. It's got a basswood body, so it's not a heavy bass at all. And yeah, Chris plays bass for Strung Out. I'm not even a particular fan of the band, but...

More clarity out of an MIM Fender Jazz

This man just summed up the entirety of TB in one and a half sentences. On-topic, the bass with Elixirs is going to sound clearer, because they're possibly the clearest-sounding strings you can buy. They aren't gonna have the same 'grind' and crispness of uncoated nickel rounds, but that also...

Alternatives to the Fender Pawn Shop Bass VI Thread

I find it hilarious that people on here have been begging Fender for a Bass VI longer than I've been on here, and now that they have one out at non-CS pricing people are looking for alternatives. Don't get me wrong, great thread and well-written OP. I just find this whole situation amusing.

    Marcus Miller bass

I prefer the feel of the neck on the MM and the preamp works really well for me. It can go from subtle shaping to balls-out agressive boost. I think they have the potential to sound very similar, though. You can definitely get Geddy tones out of the MM if you try. Edit: I only have experience...

    Riedl model B?

That looks... risky, to say the least. What's up with bridge? There's nothing to hold down the strings; from what I see they look like they'll pop out at the drop of a hat.

SOLD FS/FT: Squier Chris Aiken Precision

Got this from great TBer PBnJBassist in January, and as much as I love it I have other gear needs at the moment. 9.5/10 condition, there are a few pick swirls on the guard. Otherwise, it is very nearly new. Here's the link to the original FS thread, everything said there is accurate...

    Repair Shop Damage

I'm with RandyMolson, for one. Take the discount and move on with your life. Don't take your instrument back there if they're being real jerks about it. The peanut gallery shouting 'Sue! Sue! Sue!' really need to ease up.

This is a Geddy Lee Signature? ...Really?

This isn't hard, guys. Fender's has an SB Geddy sig for like 3 years now. The guy just added a pickguard and a thumbrest. Looks fine to me.

Markbass... the best tone comes from those delicious yellow cones.

    "Modern" tone chasing

I think a sansamp would dirty your signal more, if anything. On my Little Mark amps, what I usually do for a modern alt-rock tone is bump up the low-mids and the highs, cut the high mids, and either keep the lows flat or bump them very slightly. Too much low-end, particularly ultra-low...

    "Modern" tone chasing

I was going to suggest an amp. You should be able to dial in a "modern", scoopy tone with a good EQ section, but I think the biggest thing is a versatile amp and a well-built cab with a nice tweeter. I've only played with the PF500 for a few minutes at the store, but I was able to get a pretty...

    MIM Fender basses

I'm a big fan of the MIM Classic and Road Worn series, but I really don't care for the feel of their Standard and Deluxe series necks. They're not bad basses, but for another $100-$200, you can get an instrument that feels a whole lot better to my hands. Also, and this is just my experience...

Allparts maple block necks: do they have the same feel as a geddy neck?

On the bright side, Geddy necks are fairly easy to find on the used market. I see them on the TB Classifieds and Ebay all the time.

    Kids with expensive basses...

I feel bad, because I'm kind of one of those kids. I'm not horrendous, but I'm not expensive-gear good either. I was pretty lucky that my parents were supportive of my musical endeavors. I know a kid I graduated with that plays on a cheap starcaster guitar and a crappy little vox combo. He is a...

How careful are you with your tweeter?

I use a Markbass LMT800 and a Traveler 151p cab, and I guess I get a little bit of tweeter anxiety. I generally like to play with my tweeter cut (on the cab) at 0dB for a more crisp, defined tone with my Jazz. Recently, though, and especially since I got a used Boss ME-6B off the classifieds...

Which bass to compliment my SR1206?

I think the CV neck P is a lot more Ibanezzy than the RW P, so if you love your SR neck you'd probably mesh really well with that one. Otherwise, the RW P, Reverse Jag, and Blacktop Jazz are all great options if you're gassing for a Fender. (Also, jelly of your Ibanez. Choosing between my...

Squier CV Jazz vs VM Jag Special Humbucker

I think the build quality and features of the CV series is a lot better, but YMMV, I guess. I really like the polyester finish on the CV, and the pickups are pretty awesome for a Squier.
