    New EBMM Short Scales 2025

I dig the natural, but wish there were more ebony or rosewood fingerboard options. Especially on the sparkly green one!

    EBMM StingRay Special Club

I got one with my Laguna green special when I bought it from Sweetwater last year, but then I saw they switched over to the mono bags.

Gear of the Year (your top three acquisitions)

    1. YYZ Geddy Lee Shape-shifter Pedal: The secret sauce didn’t know I was missing, and not just for my Jazz Bas either. 2. Music Man Stingray Special HH - Kiwi Green: So comfortable to play and has a ton of sonic versatility. 3. Squier Paranormal Rascal Bass - Candy Apple Red: Bought on the...

    Guitar rack safe for lacquer?

I bought the String Swing 6 oak guitar stand a few years ago because it looks pretty classy & it was billed as safe for nitro finishes. I’ve had my Custom Shop & American Original 60s P Basses on there for about that long and there’s been no difference in the lacquer finish.

    EBMM StingRay Special Club

Yeah that was pretty strange, since it seems like most of the time they release a little bit of each type of finish (burst, metallic, sparkle) to try and please everyone.

    EBMM StingRay Special Club

Decided to trade in a handful of gear I wasn’t using and pick up a Special HH, since I’ve been gassing for one (and its additional tone options). I’m not a big green bass guy, but I thought the kiwi green was a stunner (especially with black hardware), and now I have a buddy for my first foray...

Question for owners of the Fender USA Geddy Jazz

I picked up a used 2023 a few weeks ago and looks just like Option 2. Binding is super white and there’s a little more contrast between the inlays and the fingerboard than the pics of the older one. Strangely, I don’t feel that the back of the neck on mine is anything special with the...

Help me date this older Fender P please

It’s really hard to nail down what it was that felt so different. I measured it and it was a 42mm nut width, so a little wider than a typical Jazz, but it felt beefier in the palm my hand. I also perceived it to have a more curvy radius on the fingerboard.

Return window is only 3 days, not a whole lot of time to decide.

Help me date this older Fender P please

To my hands, it was closer to a Jazz width, but probably an 1/8” wider, but it was “chunkier” from front to back than I’m used to. I guess I prefer wider nut and thinner front to back. It was a solid neck though, I tested the truss rod and easily moved a 1/4” turn in both directions and didn’t...

Help me date this older Fender P please

If that’s the one from GC in Wilmington, I had it earlier this week and found it to be 1975 neck, pickups; original pots were replaced (but in the case), but I think it’s a different body. At first I thought it was stripped Oly White because of some paint on the inside, but couldn’t tell if it...

I think I may have gone all the way through, like you said with #1. I hadn’t thought about the fact that there’s likely an open hole on the other side of the wheel. Thanks!

    EBMM StingRay Special Club

Hey all, I just picked up my first Stingray Special recently and absolutely love it. It feels perfect in my hands, well-balanced and the tone…*chef’s kiss*. The only concern I have, which may be a non-concern, is that when I figured I’d just test the truss rod adjustment a little back and forth...

SOLD Fender Custom Shop 1959 Journeyman Relic 1959 Precision Bass Super Rare Final Price Drop

A CS bass for just a little more than than AVII line? Incredible deal. If I hadn’t just worked out a good deal on a 58 Empire Music CS Precision a couple of months ago, I’d be all over this. I hope someone jumps on this, like today.

SOLD 2020 Fender Hama Okamoto Signature Precision Bass

For sale here I have my Fender Hama Okamoto Precision Bass in Olympic White (Excellent condition). These basses were made in Japan and were sold exclusively in that market. I had this one imported last year. Some of the specs that make this P bass a little different from the norm are: Jazz Bass...

No longer available 2022 Fender JMJ Signature Mustang Bass

I’m selling my JMJ Mustang Bass that’s in excellent condition. I love everything about this bass, especially the feel of the neck. As in most cases, when we let GAS get the best of us, sometimes there’s just basses that don’t get enough playing time. This is one of them for me, and it needs to...

Squier 40th Anniversary basses $300 on Prime Day deals

It arrived yesterday & it’s a winner. The box was not beat up (which is always reassuring). After getting it inside out of the Florida heat and letting it acclimate a little, I unboxed it and gave it a once over. No physical flaws outside of a couple of small imperfections I could feel in the...

    JMJ Signature Road Worn Mustang!

Looking back and forth at your E string and mine, I think part of the issue is how your string looks like it’s wrapping around itself at the base, rather than the peg. This seems to be pushing it way towards the A level string more before coming down towards the nut. Here’s a pic of mine, which...

Short scale dilemma! Help me please

I have a Sterling short scale that I picked up used recently just to see if it would be a good contrast to my Fender JMJ Mustang (which is very “bassy”, especially with the flats that come stock on it). That other end of the spectrum is exactly what I got out of the Sterling. I put rounds on it...

Fender website - Squier Late 60s CV Jazz Bass

I gave up in believing in color consistency with them, but on the plus side I now have all kinds of blue shades in my collection . My LP Blue AO 60s P is seen below next to my late 60s Jazz, then I have my “Sonic Blue” MIM Strat next to my Sonic Blue Mod Shop P.

Fender website - Squier Late 60s CV Jazz Bass

I got mine this morning too. Very impressed with the QC for the most part. The few tiny superficial things I found were not deal breakers for me. I was surprised how much I liked the stock pickups. I also swapped out the pickguard for an aged pearl one I had laying around. For 5x less than the...

Hard case for 30" scale bass

I second what B-Mac said. I’ve been watching the one from Rondo for a long time, but have been too lazy to pull the trigger. After researching a bunch for my Mustang, this one looked like the best value for the $. Douglas Case for Fender Mustang, Sire U2, Musicman Sterling Stingray Short...

Thinking about finally getting my 1st P...

When I started really getting into playing a few years ago, I picked up the surf green CV ‘70s P, because it looked quirky and fun. I loved it from the start and eventually wanted to try my hand at modding and put an EMG GZR in it, which was next level to my ears (even though I thought the stock...

The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

After owning almost a dozen other basses in the past few years to see what worked best for me tonally & what I’d bond with comfort-wise for the long term, I’ve finally settled on these 5. Now I can hopefully take a long rest from G.A.S. Fender Mod Shop Precision - Sonic Blue, with Pure Vintage...

    Fender Bass

It’s a pretty solid bass as far as playability goes. I had one for about a year, but GAS got the better of me and I sold it to pay for new gear. I made the sacrifice mainly because the J pickup did nothing for me, it was very anemic. I was always playing full neck pickup. Maybe it was just the...
