Neck/headstock buzz on certain G string notes

This is a fairly new LB-100 that has started buzzing on certain notes on the G string. It’s really prominent on the 8th-10th frets. But also the 14th fret A makes it happen. Can anyone identify the source? It sounds like it’s coming from the neck/headstock but i’ve checked every screw and can’t...

    Tweeter being rattled by woofer?

Not sure what's going on exactly here, but I've got a Traynor SB112 and when I play low notes at any kind of substantial volume, you can hear a little flapping from the tweeter. I leave the tweeter turned off on this thing, so it's nothing that's actually being pushed through the tweeter. Today...

    Best bass for Tapewounds

I have a set of LaBella Deep Talkin' black nylon tape wounds in hand, and I've never felt or played on tape wounds in my whole life. So, I picked up a set to check them out. What kinds of basses do people usually put these on? Obviously P's and J's. Any body care to comment on using them on...

How to lay back and groove/swing

I play in a big band which is made up almost entirely of people considerably more than twice my age. The drummer and I are the youngest in the group, and while we both think we are playing well and swinging, the band leader is always asking us to lay back more. We aren't rushing or anything, and...

Double Bass Recommendations of Free Jazz

I'm involved in a new project that is doing some free jazz pieces and I'm relatively unfamiliar with the style. I'm familiar with Ornette's Free Jazz, and I've really been listening to The Shape of Jazz to Come a lot lately. Does anyone have some recommendations of free jazz recordings to check...

Does G&L offer K-wiring as an option?

I'm ordering a new L2000 to my specs, and I thought I remembered reading that G&L offered the K-wiring as an option. It' not listed on their site, does anyone know if they do in fact offer this?

Can anyone recommend me a cab for a MM HD-130

Looking for a cab, 1 or 2 12's too fit my Music Man HD-130 head. This is primarily for guitar playing purposes. I'm not really knowledgable on the rules of ohms and watts. But I want something that can handle the power of the HD-130, but also have a nice Trey Anastasio-ey touch. I'm not looking...

Do all those sweet vintage instruments ever need repairs?

Just curious because I've never heard anything on the subject, when you see basses that are seriously worn, serious mojo, vintage basses that have been through a lifetime of gigs... are those basses that have always been great players, or are they basses that have been taken care of and worked...

    Fretbuzz that just don't quit

I picked up a used bass today that sounds great but I just can't get the fret buzz out. I have the neck adjusted just about the same as my L-2500. However, the strings are way higher off the fretboard, and there is buzz if I play anything forte. The buzz is from fret 1 all the way up to 15 or...

hiss/buzz/noise that goes away when my bass is at certain angles.

So i've got a bass that makes a little high pitches hiss or buzz or whatever, but when the bass is perpindicular to the floor (like if you stuck the body against a wall) it goes away. Is this a sheilding issue or something? Is it curable, or do i just need to lose weight until my bass can...
