Double Bass "Concord Musical" scam website

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum but... I just wanted to let as many folks as possible know: I thought I was buying a set of strings from Concord Music (a very reputable dealer and distributor) when in fact I was buying ZILCH from a site that looked almost exactly like theirs...

Double Bass Tchaikowsky 5 2nd movement question

We have a discussion about the circled note in the attached: 3 bars before letter "F" - is the flatted F# played as an F natural or an E? Wouldn't an "E" need to be written with a natural first (to cancel the sharp) and then the flat? Our conductor says "E"... still...? Thanks, Louis

For Sale Vingo "Bouncy" German bow

I've treated myself to a new Arcus S7 and the Vingo bow has now become superfluous! (I have an Arcus S6 and an older Concerto model). This particular bow was the first German "Bouncy" Vingo made. They sent it to me with a snakewood Pfretzschner frog originally, but the frog cracked during...

    For Sale Sandalwood Bass bow

The bow is an "S.Pierre" model by Jon Paul bows out of Utah; very well made (as are all their bows) @136 gr; 22 1/2" playable hair; 27 1/2" length (excluding screw/button) The bow pulls a very warm sound(especially on guts!); spiccato is ok but not great, as sandalwood is not the densest of...

    SOLD Really Nice No-Name Bow

Really nice, no-name bow (just as the title says). Good quality pernumbucco. Probably a German shop bow from the 1970s or 80s. Recently rehaired by Taylor Sullivan here in LA. A solid back up bow; now just sits on a shelf. It should be put to better use. @ 132 gr 22" playable hair 29 1/2"...

    Double Bass Bourbon???

Don -- if I melt this down, does it turn into a Manhattan or an Old Fashion?? Eli- if you mix it with Pappy Van Winkle, you could charge as much as Leatherwood. I have no idea if it's any good, but I'm tempted to get a cake just to sniff (chew???) at rehearsals with one or two of the...

Double Bass Any ideas? Villa Lobos B.B #4

Any ideas on the attached? The problem isn't so much the notes/fingering or staccato bowing. It's that after 6 or 8 bars of repetitive movement, my old arthritic hands just cramp up and jam, whether I use 1-2 or 2-4 etc (and I still have the Mendelssohn 5th to do after intermission). Frankly...

    Double Bass Perlon v. Synlon?

I think "synlon" was the predecessor of "perlon" for synthetic strings (and maybe tennis racquets, too). Anybody if it was any good? I found an old string (don't ask) from the 1970s (I guess) made of "synlon" but I'm actually afraid to string it on! Yikes!!

    Double Bass Hollywood Bowl legends

I was at the Hollywood Bowl concert that Herbie Hancock organized for the late Wayne Shorter. Geez-louise!

    Double Bass Brahms 1 bowings

I'm playing with a community orchestra, doing the Brahms 1rst Symphony. Double Bass Sandalwood?

Recently I've seen several shops advertise "sandalwood" bows - these are generally student/conservatory level sticks in the $200-400 range; and are either "yellow" or "green" -- other types/species(?) are "red" and "white". In some violin posts I've read that sandalwood bows produce a very warm...
