OLP MM-2 and Epiphone EB-3 SG?

The Epi is not the bundle package. This is on CL. Some guy is selling the bass and his practice amp.

OLP MM-2 and Epiphone EB-3 SG?

Are either of these basses decent? Pros and cons. Sorry for the vague question but I am new and trying to learn. I can get either one for 2 bills(the Epi comes with a small Traynor amp).

Putting together medium PA, a few questions...

You will need and eq. A good eq is the DBX 231. They can be found used for about $100-125. Will you be running any monitors? If so,you can run the mians on one channel and the monitors on the other. When you do upgrade the mains, you will already have a good start with the amp and eq. Good luck!

Putting together medium PA, a few questions...

The QSC amp will not only give you better sound but will be more consistent. The control on the amp is not a volume switch. It is recommended to run your speakers at 1.5 times the RMS rating. If your speakers are 800 continuous then they are only 400 rms. I would not put more than 600 watts...

Putting together medium PA, a few questions...

First I would stear clear of the Mackie. Alot of their mixers have quality issues. Next 800 watts power handling, I would not push that much power into those speakers. The QSC amps are solid.

    Advice on mains

If you do not run subs then the 15" is a better choice. The Yamaha Clubs are a good entry level cab. Do not get the BR series. They are cheaper and they sound like it.

    Monster power or Furman?

The power conditioners have filters in them to protect against power surges. A surge will burn up the filters then all you have is a burnt power strip. With a power strip the fuse will blow and stop the current. That is a $1.00 fuse fix versus $100 for a new conditioner.

    Hartke HA2500 or Ampeg BR2

I now have a small amp to practice on. A Yorkville BM50(old school) I think my wife is going to start playing. We will learn together. I will pass the yorkie to her and wanted to get a head and cab to start learning on. Yes GAS is attacking:eek:

Buying a PA for a female vocalist

If at all possible skip the Yamaha BR series and step up to the S series. The sound quality is like day and night different.

    Hartke HA2500 or Ampeg BR2

Which one for best quality and performance? I am not in any band. This will be used at home and sometimes at church. Do not need to rattle the windows. Just looking for a good clean sound.

    Monster power or Furman?

Power conditioners are not necessary. Most of the gear today will protect itself. A good power strip will do the same as a conditioner at a fraction of the cost.

    Advice on mains

Using 12" mains over subs gives better clarity and the subs will fill out the bottom end. Yamaha SM112V's are a great choice. The can be used as mains or monitors. Stay away from JBL JRX series. If you can look at the Yorkville speakers. Great sound and can be had at a good price.

    Yorkville Bassmaster 50

I was going to get the acoustic B20 then saw Yorkville. I am new to bass so input would be helpful. Pros and cons between the two.

    Yorkville Bassmaster 50

Does anyone own one or have used one? It is the old style with the blue carpet. I found one for $100 and was wandering if it is worth a look.

    Help a newb choose

I have everything I need if I was to play through the PA. My son plays guitar and the amp will mainly be used for me to learn. I have found a few on CL but have not found good reviews on most of the small amps.

OK so I will narrow it down to a jazz. For those who have or tried the SX which do you prefer? After WE choose the instument, then WE can choose an amp. I tried to get my wife involved and she says whatever. So it is up to US!:hyper:

Skillet is an AWESOME band. I read the sticky for newbs and it looks like I need a small neck. I am only 5'8" and I have small hands. (you know what they say about guys with small hands: we wear small gloves):D Any thoughts on the LTD B254? It is the one with the black finish.
