    JMJ Signature Road Worn Mustang!

Hey everyone! I recently got a Daphne blue JMJ and it’s been a lot of fun to play so far! While the neck is a little thick for my liking (I typically go for jazz bass necks), it is pretty comfortable and plays really fast. Only a few minor concerns.. The neck seemed super dry, especially for...

    Best solution for back pain?

I appreciate all the responses! For anyone who’s interested…Im 38 years old and have some scoliosis, degenerative disc disease and spinal stenosis. I’ve tried multiple rounds of PT but they just flat out told me there’s nothing more they can do. I used to be an avid Olympic weight lifter in my...

    Best solution for back pain?

Hey all, I was in a cover band like 15 years ago playing regularly. Have played the few odd gigs since then, but now I’m back in a cover band (mostly pop punk/alternative). Anyway, my spinal stenosis has been aggravating my back pain much more since those days. I practice for about 2 hours...

Help me improve my jazz bass tone

I guess I could also buy a loaded P-bass body somewhere and put the jazz neck on that? I've considered this route, but honestly I just love the vibes of my jazz bass for this pop-punk band since its naturally relic'd and such and just feels good all round.

Help me improve my jazz bass tone

I have a 2015 MIM Jazz bass that I love. The neck is great, it's light weight and just feels good. The only downside is the tone. It feels like it lacks some "oomph". For example, I'm playing in a pop-punk cover band. I do have a player plus P-bass that I'll use but it does not play nearly as...

    Fender AVI '66 J, '60s P or 5-string Stingray HH?

As someone who also played in a cover band and had a similar choice, I went with the 5 string HH sting ray. TBH, it’s not my favorite but it’s much more versatile for covers, you can emulate most tones well enough, sound guys always loved it, And I rarely needed to down tune with the 5 string.

    5-string vs. tuning down

Tough call. 5 string is probably the better choice long term to help you learn and become more fluent with the instrument. Tuning down to BEAD would require some know how with a proper set up, but assuming you can sort that out and you really don’t want to play anything other than that...

Fender P Bass vs Jazz (neck pickup)

I think the neck pickup solod on a jazz bass does a decent job of replicating the P bass sound in some genres, but I play some pop punk with a pick and the jazz neck pickup just can’t emulate that same grindy mid range that I want when playing that style.

NBD - The Meteora that fell from the sky

Nice job! Just out of curiosity, how much of a discount were you able to get on it? If it was a good enough deal, I would have worn that chip with pride, but you covered it up nicely.

Jazz or a Precision with a P/J setup?

I have a Player Plus PJ and standard jazz bass. To me, the PJ gets very close to the jazz bass tone, but it just sounds a little thinner on the top end. Even with the preamp, I just can’t dial in a tone that gets quite the same as my jazz bass with both pickups wide open. I have heard others who...

My toddler asked for a bass

My 4.5 yr old has been showing interest. Let him try my bronco, but that was too big. Got a used Squier mini P bass that is better suited for him. But of course he doesn’t really touch it, so just another toy for me.

Squier Precision doesn't agree with Mesa Walkabout Scout?

Have you tried turning the gain down? My EBMM stingray 5 has much lower output than my fenders. I usually need to mess with my amp (Markbass) whenever I change basses to get the right volume and such.

Fender American Performer Mustang vs LTD Player Mustang Bass (Need advice)

Check some YouTube comparisons. I personally didn’t notice a big enough difference in the pickups to justify the price difference. I had the MIM model for a few days but couldn’t bond with it. The neck was just super dry and uncomfortable, even after a couple rounds of oiling. The bridge...

Stingray HH players - favorite pickup switch settings?

Position 1- obvious choice Position 2 - I agree with others that it gives some jazzy vibes Position 3 - my work horse. Is MIM Fender p bass just a “better” Squier

I snagged a Player Plus P/J during the holidays on a great deal (almost half off at amazon). Quality has been amazing and I really like the 12" radius, which might be more your style. I'd recommend checking one of them out. Great bass overall and great quality, but I honestly wouldn't pay full...
