Help me diagnose this pickup/alignment issue

It kind of does, I just don't understand why the E and G strings are both pulling towards the center of the bass?

Help me diagnose this pickup/alignment issue

Sorry for the delay, here is a picture- I don't know how to explain it but this picture makes it look LESS bad than it is in real life somehow. Please let me know any thoughts you have, I want to get this thing perfectly straightened out.

Help me diagnose this pickup/alignment issue

Lots of relevant information here to put context to my questions at the end, so please bear with me.... I have a 2009 Squier Vintage Modified 70's Jazz Bass with the Duncan Designed pickups. After all these years of owning it, for some reason I decided to try out a new set of pickups even though...

Effects Settings to Replicate Tool (Justin Chancellor) Tone?

Alright, so I will be playing some Tool songs at a small gig soon- I used to have a very complex setup that I could use to get a pretty good Tool bass tone. Alas, times became tough and I sold almost all of it... thankfully, I kept my Boss BF2 bass flanger. The only other pedals I have are a...

    Squier VM 70's Jazz

I just picked up one of these basses (the natural wood color with black pickguard, and pearl block inlays with maple neck) off craigslist for $140 in practically MINT condition. Apparently these basses go new for $300 and I love the feel of a jazz bass but have never owned one so I purchased it...

    Bass fuzz

I recommend the EHX Deluxe Bass Bigmuff Pi. Not the regular bass big muff though, I wasn't a fan and sold mine. For some reason the deluxe sounds wayyy better. Plus it's got lots of other useful features. After having tried several fuzz pedals it definitely came out on top for me.

What is your favorite pedal on your board and why?

^+1. I also use a BF-2 and it adds something to my tone that I can only describe as epic.

    Morley Dual Bass Wah

It should be a blue square that is standing up, with a white circle in the middle that you can turn with a small flathead screwdriver. It should be on the middle-left side of the pedal.

What is your favorite pedal on your board and why?

EHX Deluxe Bass Big Muff Pi. The crossover lets me have two entirely different tones on tap. Without crossover is a kick ass fuzz, and with crossover is a more gritty, trebly distortion that sounds less like a fuzz and more like a hardcore distortion. Also the built in noise gate, blend, tone...

    Morley Dual Bass Wah

Oddly enough, I discovered that myself today online without looking here but thanks man! I did that too. but the only problem I have is that there is still a noticeable difference in tone. It's like the bass pauses for a split-second, then returns with uneffected tone. Maybe its just me being...

    Morley Dual Bass Wah

I just got one of these and I really like alot of things about it. It's built like a tank, easy to use, the regular wah is great for distortion and the funk wah is great for anything else. The only thing I don't like is the noticeable difference in tone after you finish "wah"-ing, there is a 2...

NBD Squier Vintage Modified Short Scale Jaguar

I don't have the short scale but the standard scale VM jaguar bass and I agree, for the money, the tones, playability and overall "vibe" of the bass rivals that of my more expensive basses. I also played a fretless VM jazz and couldn't believe how nice it was for the money. Unfortunately, alot...

    EHX Bass Big Muff Pi

Received the deluxe bbm today... played with it for 3 straight hours and found so many tones I like that it was almost overwhelming. This thing blows the regular BBM out of the water in pretty much every way. The noise gate is awesome and the crossover is just nuts. I was getting a tone very...

    EHX Bass Big Muff Pi

Ok awesome! Thanks guys. How about some feelings on the Deluxe BBM? Mine will be coming tomorrow and I have yet to find alot of good feedback about it or which settings sound good with the crossover and what not. Any comments are welcomed, I've been curious about the Deluxe BBM ever since I got...

    EHX Bass Big Muff Pi

I've had this pedal for 3 months now (bought it new) and while I can get plenty of "useable" tones out of it, I just can't seem to get any tones that sound truly great. Does anyone else find this? I just ordered a used Deluxe BBM because I was told it is much more flexible so I'm hoping it's...

    Help get the inspiration back

Thanks for the tips guys, I do play guitar as well and have been playing more of that recently. Help get the inspiration back

I've been playing for a long time but lately with work and all, I don't have as much time to practice and focus on my bass playing. So for the maybe 1 hour of time I get a day to practice, I find myself warming up with the same scales/riffs/songs I always do just to keep my skills up but I'm...

    Fuzz Tone

Try the electroharmonix bass big muff pi deluxe. It beats the regular bass big muff because it has a blend so you can dial in exactly how much dry/dirty signal you want. Plus it's got that nice muff fuzz!

    Best Chorus Pedal for Bass?

I know other people have said it already but I'll say it again. I own an EHX small clone and have been using it with my bass for 5 or 6 years and it has yet to let me down. Awesome chorus, doesn't lose any low end and you will most definitely be heard.

    Lots of pedals

I feel for you man. And I think that if we were all honest with ourselves, we could probably dump alot of our pedals and not really be missing out on much. I for one know of 4 pedals I have that I could sell right now, probly get at least $80 for each and I would not really miss them much!
  26. grunge_freak

    Lots of pedals

In the end I think it comes down to them being professionals- they've made it big, they've mastered the specific tone they are going for, and with that comes the ability to master that tone using less equipment, therefore more efficiently. In my opinion, as an engineer and someone who loves...

    Surprisingly Good Cheap Bass

I'm very surprised at the quality of this bass though. It seems to me that, (and I work in manufacturing engineering for a living), CNC machining has made it so that, if properly set up and taken care of, even cheap basses can play really well if you put the time into them these days.

    Surprisingly Good Cheap Bass

I'm just glad I've gotten to the point where I can set things up and know what I'm doing. I also have an Epiphone Thunderbird and between that and the Turser P I have pretty much all my bases covered as far as tones go (no pun intended)

    Looky here!!

Yeah I agree nice bass, but for 12k?? That seems a little ridiculous especially considering the hack paint job over the body and pickguard... I guess for someone who wants a road worn look that would be a plus thought but I personally wouldn't pay 12k. +1 to Danny bob. If it was me and I was...

    Surprisingly Good Cheap Bass

I had an old Jay Turser P-Bass sitting in my closet that I haven't played in years (since I was just a noob and knew nothing about bass) and I moved on to other basses without ever really understanding the potential this bass had. Well, I took it out of my closet, put some new ernie ball...

Beginner practice amp is it worth it?

+1 to buying used. I have been playing bass for 8+ years and I still buy my gear used. If you can, (and this is what I did when I got my first bass) try to find other things you don't use and sell them on craigslist or ebay for money. You'd be surprised how much stuff you might have that you no...

    Digitech whammy pedal for bass

if you wana nail Justin's sound, go buy a musicman stingray, tech21 sansamp, boss bf-2, and the whammy and that would just be a start. nah but it all seriousness, you don't need his exact gear. me and my bud cover tool all the time and we have managed to get in the same ballpark as their tone...

What is missing from chorus pedals?

^ well on top of the tone it puts out... especially on the deep depth setting, i barely use the lighter one unless im playing 80's guitar like Rush or something but with the deep depth its so watery and it's just ILL

What is missing from chorus pedals?

I don't know what pedals everyone else uses, but I use an EHX small clone chorus on my bass and experience virtually no low-end loss on either of my basses so I personally wouldn't NEED an EQ but it could be useful. however sometimes, in situations like with the Small Clone, I think less is...

    Boss BF-2 vs. BF-3

I havent ever seen or used the GuitarRig5 but I have heard good things about it. Though at this point I just love my pedals so much and have them all dialed in for what I play, I don't think I could ever change hahaha

    Boss BF-2 vs. BF-3

^+1 to that my man. Also I notice it depends on the bass, amp and other pedals being run. The BF's both sounded different on my buddies bass through his amp then on mine. I guess for my particular setup, I like the BF-2 but your setup may just be more welcoming to the BF-3, who knows. thats half...

    Boss BF-2 vs. BF-3

After doing A-B tests and thoroughly comparing the two with different settings on my bass, amp, and other pedals, I now really do think that the BF-2 has a superior sound. The BF-3 is very metallic and doesn't let the natural tone of my bass come through as much. That being said, I think these...

    Funk/Slap

I've been a rock/jazz/metal bassist for my entire life. And for the longest time I've felt like a thoroughly well rounded bassist because I can play a healthy dose of jazzy, thumpy finger style walking bass lines and then kick in my distortion, use a pick and absolutely shred. But lately I've...
