Gallien Krueger MB 112 or MB 115?

I bought a mb112, and while I liked it I found myself wanting more power. I returned it and got a mb212. Of your choices, I would go with the mb115 for sure.

    Upgrade an Epiphone EB0

For the noise, I would check the grounding and maybe do some sheilding around the pickup and wiring. And the staying in tune, have you replaced the strings? Also make sure that the strings slide smoothly in the nut, many tuning problems can be traced back to a nut that is too snug holding (or...

I love my SX's. Both bass and guitars.

Squiers' Playability: Bronco bass VS Jaguar SS

I have found a decent low cost replacement pickup for the Bronco, it is drop in with no mods required. It is a good choice for a bass because it is rated at 7k, not too hot like many rail humbuckers that you will find. If interested Just message me for the link to it, they are $19 shipped.

    My Latest Bronco

Glenn I like it, we must think alike. I actually bought two Prodigy humbuckers for mine, I didn't have a selector switch yesterday that I wanted to use so I put it together with the one pickup for now.

    My Latest Bronco

Thanks Guys. I don't encounter any neck dive, the strap button is above the 12th fret. Using this as a balance point, the Bronco's are always body heavy. The pickup was a drop in, no work at all required. This one is a Prodigy that I found on Feebay for $18 shipped, it makes for a nice...

    My Latest Bronco

My latest Bronco. I just got this one from Sam Ash this morning, Fedex dropped it by around Lunch time. Getting a full inspection. The new parts. A Prodigy rail humbucker pickup, Fender push pull pot, Fender tone pot and Mustang knobs. Here it is completed.

    Mustang WOW!

I love the fit and feel of my Mustang, but I agree mine falls a little short in the sound department. My modded Bronco on the other hand is killer in the sound department, but the neck is on the wide side. I need to just combine the two. Invalid Link Removed

    NEW Squier Vintage Modified Mustang

Thanks, that is whats listed. I like the 1.5, thats what my Mustang has. The Bronco's that I have been using for mod projects are a wider 1.6ish at the nut. I may have to spring for one of these for my next project.

    NEW Squier Vintage Modified Mustang

That is bad ass, I have been debating on ordering one for a month. Nice bass. I know what the listings state. But what does the neck measure at the nut?

    Thinking about a '51 P...

Thanks, I may look into one. I have had a number of Rondo guitars that I have really liked. I kinda favor the thinner jazz style necks, so it might be just what I would want in a 51.

    Thinking about a '51 P...

Thanks I will do that. I'm kinda like Din of Win, I am a short scale player but I have a sweet spot for the 51.

The best low cost short scale bass I have ever owned is ...

Here's a shot of my current bass line up, three short scalers (Fender Mustang, SX Ursa 4 JR, Squier Bronco) and one long (Aria RE550). (I've sold off 4 long scales the last couple weeks) Granted the Bronco is pretty lame with the stock pickup. I have modded mine with a full size blade...

    New Short Scale Bass

Thanks. I've thought about it, I just don't want to hack up the Mustang. I may just sell it off. I did call Sam Ash this evening and got the salesman down to $250 free shipping on a new Squier Mustang. As others have posted, the SX Ursa makes for a nice bass as well. I have one of them...

    New Short Scale Bass

As I posted earlier, my vote goes to the Squier Mustang. For me I expected it to be the best of both Basses. I currently own a modded Bronco and a Fender Mustang. My Bronco is the best sounding bass that I own or have owned, but I just don't care for the neck. My Fender Mustang is nice and I...

    New Short Scale Bass

At the end of the day, you need to decide your favorite and which suits you the best. I know its good to get some feedback on products and I do from time to time, but ultimately you have to go with your pick.

    New Short Scale Bass

Squier Mustang for sure, I own a nicely modded Squier Bronco that rocks and a Fender Mustang. I am about to pickup a Squier Mustang with plans of modding.

    NEW Squier Vintage Modified Mustang

I have dealt with World Music supply, They have it listed as ships in 3 to 5 days. Translation they don't actually have it in stock, if it is in stock they will list it as available.

Long Scale Neck on Bronco Body?

I went with a full size blade humbucker in mine, you only need to trim the pickguard to fit. It was $26 shipped on feebay. Of all my many basses my Bronco which is the cheapest bass I own now is by far my best sounding. I am thinking about ordering one of these pickups for my Mustang.

    Squier Bronco Fantasy Mod

It might need some very slight trimming on the pickguard. Actually a full size humbucker like the one I used only took trimming of the pickguard, I did not have to touch the body.

    Squier Bronco Fantasy Mod

Here is a pic of my Bronco. I installed a blade humbucker with a push pull to split, a new Fender tone pot and fully shielded everything. Of all my basses, this is my favorite sounding. I really like the humbucker and with the shielding it is dead quiet. Invalid Link Removed

Have you thought about pairing the two that you have now?

Has anyone modded a Squier Bronco Bass?

I finally had the chance to play my modded Bronco back to back live with my Mustang. I will say that I still like the neck and the overall feel of the Mustang by far, but the modded Bronco flat kills the Mustang in the sound and tone department. A lot bigger fuller sound, and the sound and...

    Fender Mustang - which model?

Good reading, I like the old ads. Thanks. Op I don't think you can go wrong with a Mustang, mine is a nice solid guitar. I also have a Modded Bronco that is cool, that I have a lot less in but I personally still prefer the feel of the Mustang.

Should I get one of these SX basses?

I have a short scale similar to it that I really like. I say go for it, if you don't like it you can always return it.

Good question, kinda wondering the same thing. I prefer SS's myself. I have a 96 Mustang that I like, it has a good fit and feel.

Has anyone modded a Squier Bronco Bass?

I just got it back together, so far I have only played it on my Toneport so I haven't gotten the full effect. So far I like it, the humbucker has a nice big full sound and when split it has a cleaner thinner sound. Can't wait to play it back to back with my Mustang on my GK MB212. It does...

The things I hate about loving short scales

Mustang Not highend enough for the pro minded. Don't tell these players. PlayersTomethy Furse and, more recently, Rhys Webb of The Horrors and Miss Frankie Stein of The Mission Creeps use all-black Mustang Basses. Trevor Bolder of David Bowie and The Spiders from Mars used a Mustang Bass...

The things I hate about loving short scales

Ant I agree, the marketing seems to be 40 years behind when it comes to SS's. Granted they are not as popular, but I love my Mustang and I am currently modding a Bronco for fun. I perfer the SS so much that I am selling all my std basses.

Has anyone modded a Squier Bronco Bass?

I agree for the price it will make for a great SS bass. But I love the Mustangs and Bronco style and part it for me is modding, I have a SX Jazz but still perfer the M/B's. Here is my current Mustang and the SX. Invalid Link Removed

Has anyone modded a Squier Bronco Bass?

Hey Guys. I am in the middle of a little Bronco project right now. I am waiting for my pots to show up, hopefully tomorrow. I am taking a little different path, one that I have not seen before. I am using a full size rail humbucker pickup, along with a push pull pot to select from single to...

    Squier Bronco Fantasy Mod

I am working on my Bronco, new pickup came today and I have the pickguard ready. Now for some shielding and hopefully the new pots and knobs show up tomorrow. BTW to answer my own question above. The stock pickup measured 5.27K.
