    New Nordstrand CND P & J Pickups?? Found on Ibanez SR650 & SR750

Probably best if you email the shop. We can sort out specifics and give you pricing if the layout is different than the standard offerings. That said, I think you need a 5 knob layout and if you want to keep the passive tone knob you'll want to stack the treble on the bass.

    New Nordstrand CND P & J Pickups?? Found on Ibanez SR650 & SR750

Our 3 band has switchable mid frequencies. I hope that's apparent from our website. The highs are pretty similar on all the preamps we make. You will need to email us to custom order a Big Split bridge pickup for your bass. We don't have them listed at this time.

    New Nordstrand CND P & J Pickups?? Found on Ibanez SR650 & SR750

Our 3 band is great. Or you could do a 2 band with a passive tone. We cover all the options pretty well on our website.

What Bassmaker is the Best Player?

    Hey thanks!!

    The Nordy Club (Part XIV)

Very cool. It is definitely a great looking bass and I think it's the only one I ever did with binding on the headstock.

    The Nordy Club (Part XIV)

Wow! I hope it lives up to the memory. :-)

    New Nordstrand CND P & J Pickups?? Found on Ibanez SR650 & SR750

No, that's part of the beauty of that bass. You can go anywhere from a fat dark passive thing to a modern bright active thing. It covers a ton of ground and you should feel free to use all of it depending on what the situation calls for.

    The Nordy Club (Part XIV)

John is correct. If you want totally hum free operation you can replace the Big Singles with Big Splits.

    The Nordy Club (Part XIV)

Oh man I bet that is killer. Wish I had a chance to check it out before it was gone. I'm hoping to have the P5 Blade available in another couple months. We're currently pushing towards release of a hum canceling version of our Big Blades and that's taking up all our new product resources at the...

    The Nordy Club (Part XIV)

Ok cool. Just wanted to make sure you're cool with really utilizing the tone know because there's a whole world of great sounds available there. Sounds like you're sorting it out in a way that will really work for you. Very cool. BTW, I have a NP5 A3 in my vP5. It's really fat and warm and I...

    The Nordy Club (Part XIV)

You need to learn to get used to the tone knob on these basses. There's way too much top if you run it wide open all the time unless the strings get very dead. To me the magic starts to show up when the tone is at least 50% off and you start to get that resonant bump before the roll off. Try it...

    New Nordstrand CND P & J Pickups?? Found on Ibanez SR650 & SR750

Not sure what to tell you. You can definitely raise the G side of the P pickup. If it's still an issue you might want to contact Ibanez. We don't make the CND pickups so I'm not able to help you directly myself. You'd need to find someone authorized to do Ibanez service or a dealer.

    New Nordstrand CND P & J Pickups?? Found on Ibanez SR650 & SR750

The tone will be a little warmer and fatter. Other than that it should be very close.

    New Nordstrand CND P & J Pickups?? Found on Ibanez SR650 & SR750

Glad you like the split version. It's definitely better for total elimination of noise. I suspect the reason Ibanez don't use then as stock pickups is that they are a fair bit more expensive to make and at a price point like this every penny counts. BTW, you can order these directly from us...

Onboard pre with mid sweep ?

Our preamps do not sweep. The push pull pot allows selecting 2 frequencies with the switch and the pot controls boost and cut in both the up and down positions for each respective frequency.

Conflicted with the Nordstrand Big Singles

We can and have sold many Big Split pickups for these Ibanez basses. You can contact the shop and we will take care you as quickly as we can. Still working on a little bit of catch up from being at NAMM though.

Any Idea when Nordstrands will be Back in Stock?

Did you order direct or through a dealer?

    New Nordstrand BigMan

The BigMan is a pretty warm pickup to start with. Depends on what you like. Ultimate warmth and fatness = A3. Still with a bit of bite = A5.

    Pickup options for Fender P5?

The hum is odd. So is the pickup in equal sized covers? We do make an NP5v, which is rounder and softer than the standard NP5. Might be what you're looking for. We also do a version with alnico 3 poles which is even more vintage and organic. That's the NP5v-A3.

    Pickup options for Fender P5?

We have options that are more vintage flavored these days. Which model P do you have now?

Tonal difference between Nordstrand NPJ4 and NPJ4SV pups?

The bridge pickup on the NPJ4 set is a single coil. The NPJ4SV set has a split hum canceling bridge pickup. What this means is that the former will not be totally hum canceling with both pickups on. The latter will. Hope that helps.

Tim Commerford playing a Stingray again.

It's a little thicker and warmer. Not quite as toothy in the top end.

Tim Commerford playing a Stingray again.

Actually the BigMan is just (!) two Big Singles in a MM cover. If it was 2 Big Splits I think I'd call it a BigSplitMan. ;-) (And we have made those on occasion.)

    Nordstrand Big Blades?

These sound right up your alley. I'd probably recommend the maple fingerboard. In my experience it'll be just a little less zingy in the highs than the others.

    Nordstrand Big Blades?

I think that's a great thing to try. Will probably be killer.

    NBD: Mod. edition

It was my idea to try that wiring with the BigMan. It just seemed to make sense. I love it! It's surprising how much tonal variation there is between the two coils of an MM pickup. Both sounds are very useable.

    NBD: Mod. edition

Wow! What a unique installation. Love it!

    Nordstrand Big Blades?

We currently offer the Big Blade, which is a single coil blade pickup in a soap bar shape. We are actively working on finalizing the HC Big Blade, which is a sidewinder hum canceling version of the Big Blade and has only one blade (sorry Andy). We are in the very early stages of development...

    Nordstrand Big Blades?

Actively working on the J version. Got some magnets in yesterday for prototyping but the mag direction was wrong so we have to wait for the correct ones. Can't wait to see what these sound like!

    New Nordstrand CND P & J Pickups?? Found on Ibanez SR650 & SR750

Glad you like these basses! I think they are a ridiculous value and cover tons of ground tonally.

    New Nordstrand BigMan

Do not use the BigMan with our vintage style 2b-MM preamp. The pickup has WAY more output than a MM pickup and it will overload the preamp and distort pretty easily. Not a good combination. Definitely recommend our standard 2B preamp for the BigMan.

    New Nordstrand BigMan

    Wow. Punchy like crazy!!

    Fodera Club Part XXVII

No worries. Unfortunately I'm kind of excitable when we do new stuff and I'm probably not as clear as I should be when I put things on FB. I can totally see how you'd think it was a formal release.
  36. Carey

    Fodera Club Part XXVII

We just tested a prototype. It's a single coil style P with one magnet per string. Also, this one is a split could so it's hum canceling. Should be able to offer them for sale soon.

Best pickups to mate to Nordstrand preamp?

Ah well. Sorry you're not happy. Please let us take care of you with a return. Email us and we'll get it set up with whoever you bought the pickups from.

What do I have here? (Bartoloni/Nordstrand content)

Pretty sure the S on the bottom of that one means it's series optimized. The B means it's a bridge pickup. You can wire it however you want, but we designed it to sound best (to our ears of course) in series mode.
