New Nordstrand BigMan

I will say though that with just a touch of EQ from the preamp has given me A LOT of variety in comparison to the stock config.
That's a useful, concise demo. Consistent playing, too. Thanks! What kind of bass is that, btw?
Anyone thought of doing a dual BigMan bass? I might have missed it before...

Not quite, but this one could be thought dual BigMan's. I think of it more as a Big Single quad and that's how I use it - parallel only with on/off for each coil as if they are separate pickups.
Mike, my next Drake will have dual MM routes for the multi coils I'm having made. If I don't like them, I'll probably drop two of these in there...
Well, I thought about it more and will probably do something different in the neck position but would still put a BigMan in the bridge. The placement I chose is almost perfect where the front coil is exactly the 60's Jazz position and the back coil is *almost* at the 70's Jazz position, just a little behind it. So I'd wire it for coil tapping only and probably leave the two pickups in parallel to each other.
#Thrillhouse has got one in a Sandberg Basic 4, which has a MM pickup in more or less the L1000 position. See the thread at Thoughts on inner/outer/parallel/series wiring options with the BigMan .
Also, I've seen a couple of Alpher basses with Bigman pickups in the neck and bridge, which is what convinced me it would work on my upcoming Bordwell.

Not sure if this has already been discussed, but is the Bigman designed to be used with the Nordstrand MM preamp or regular 2/3 band preamps?
The only examples I've ever seen were paired with the regular 2/3 band preamps. The Nordstrand MM preamp can be used with any pickup, of course, but I think it's really intended for folks wanting to duplicate the old 2-band vintage 'Ray sound. The Bigman uses a MM-sized pickup case because it's big enough to stuff a pair of Big Singles in, but is not at all designed around duplicating the vintage MM sound.
Do not use the BigMan with our vintage style 2b-MM preamp. The pickup has WAY more output than a MM pickup and it will overload the preamp and distort pretty easily. Not a good combination.
Definitely recommend our standard 2B preamp for the BigMan.
