I am in the process of purchasing a new bass and its eaither goin got be a musicman stingray classic or the 2012 model i know the difference is the 2012 model comes with a 3 band eq and an active to passive pull tab but what would you all suggest?

Im new to this but i would like to let you all know about me just a little im 17 from chippewa falls (Yep im a yunging :P) but so far the biggest gig i have played has been July 1st of this year i played bass at Summerfest down in Milwaukee and it was an amazing experiance! :D

thank you all! also would it be helpful to use a keyboard for the theory work such as which harmony to sing, like if my singer is singing say a D would it be helpful for me to go back later to a keyboard later and go a 6th below or a 3rd or 5th above and see what sounds good

i know some theory about 3rds and 5ths so would you recommend just finding the note the singer sings and dropping to a 5th or going up to a 3rd or 5th

I woke up this morning and decided to try my hand at tuning it again and it managed to work and stay in tune correctly i do not know how it happened but somewhere through the line on my tuner it might have gotten switched to half step up

i tuned it the correct way eadg and used my new boss tu 3 tuner to do so

and that is why it is going to the shop tomorrow morning

@bass32 Yes for your first point the fretted the E string on the 5th fret and that is A and once i played open A it did not match at all so once i got the 5th fret of the E to match the open A string the open note of the E string was an F and i will probably end up taking it in to get set up

Alright so i just bought a new fender jazz modified bass and i was tuning it and once i got everything tuned to were the 5th fret matched the next string the E string ended up being an F while the rest of the strings were the same A D G and once i tune my E string to E it does not match at all...

Playing bass is one of my passions at such a young age but one thing i havent learned yet is bass chords and i was wondering if anyone had a list of bass chords and the technique used to play them
