(re-post) Pedal options for slightly noisy vintage single coil pickups?

TC Sentry is most effective by placing any noise inducing pedals in the send/return loop of the Sentry. IMO this is the only way to use this pedal to it's full potential. Beyond this, if needed, use the tone print editor to make a custom preset tailored to your needs.

    TC Spectra Comp

Still use my spectracomp every time I play. Only thing I wish it had was the ability to store one or two more presets in it with say a toggle or button to select. Tho I do understand why it doesn't as that would have driven the price up. It is an extremely deceiving pedal, only one control knob...

    DR Strings Club v2

I'm using 45-105 DDTs in standard tuning on a 35" scale bass. If you use them on a short scale bass you would certainly end up with the major diameter of the string on the tuning post, I've read that this could be problematic on larger gage strings. I have no personal experience with that so...

I'm a loyal DR guy, Nothing but SS Lo Riders or DDT's for the last 15 years. I put off trying the DDT's for a long time and now I think they have taken the #1 spot for me over the Lo Riders. Great strings!

@oldblue Nice looking B-204:drool: Sounds like you got a good deal, very nice. Do keep the bridge clean, I started getting corrosion almost 2 years in. Admittedly I did fail to wipe it down after gigs quite a bit. My B gets way more playtime than either of the D's

    Badass 2 saddle adjustment

VW Fan, Walter is correct. When he said move the neck to the treble side he does not mean push the heal of the neck, he is referring to pushing the headstock toward the treble side. The heal is the pivot point. When the strings are centered hold it in this position while tightening the screws...

    DR Lo-Riders - thoughts?

I've been using SS Lo Riders on all my basses for the last 12 years. A few months ago I finally tried the DDTs and have now left Lo Riders in the past as the DDTs have a better growl to my ear, and the tuning stability and intonation across the board are both improved. Wish I tried the DDTs sooner.

Intonation in relation to core wire size?

Update on my original post. Got the DDT's installed resulting in no change in saddle position from the SS Lo Riders of the same gauge. Intonation was spot on and actually better across the length of the board. Beyond that I am absolutely enamored with them so far and provided they hold...

DR have been my go to strings for the last 15 years. Drop D Tuning Setup

Use hex core strings if you're not already. You could also try DR DDT strings, the core is a larger diameter and the string will retain a higher tension when dropped to D, with the added benefit of more stable intonation when dropped down.

Intonation in relation to core wire size?

I have a basic understanding of wave properties, nodes and harmonic order. And am not concerned with string feel or compliance. Was just in hopes for anyone's real world experience with altered saddle position, if any, when moving to a larger core size. Surely there are other factors at play...

Looking for any knowledge about larger VS smaller core wire in relation to string length to intonate becoming significantly longer or shorter? String Tension and Effect on Tone

If they are the same strings on both and in the same tuning the string tension should be the same. You mention "phasiness" which makes me think you should check for a twisted string or pickup too close.

Should I be concerned about "flattened" frets?

Without seeing this in person I'll admit I could be wrong, as who knows what possible micro distortion could have been introduced into the photo by a dirty or otherwise distorted lens or too lengthy of an exposure time. My Initial opinion was due to seeing the grind/file marks not all parallel...

Should I be concerned about "flattened" frets?

I can't say I know much about plek machines other than some videos I've watched explaining how they work and are run, and then showing how they do their work. But I do work with metal everyday and can with most assurity tell you the marks that are on that fret were done by hand.

@jpbass5 sounds like you could use the Mesa pro's to have a look at your amp. Also you may not want to "whack" the amp as chances are you could end up doing more damage at this point by the sounds. I know it can be frustrating when your gear doesn't behave. Be patient and let Mesa do their thing.

When you need to undo your luthier's adjustments

Maybe look into the DR DDT strings, as I beleive they have larger core wire. I don't know for sure if this leads to higher tension. But the larger core should result in a string with less compliance which could improve your problem.

Line 6 g70 transmitter power switch broken

Is the switch broken as in it now "floats" or does not stay in either position properly, or does it feel and act the same but but does not power on? If the latter you could take it apart and try flushing the switch out with some contact cleaner.

    Why do folks cut strings?

I have no need for any wraps as I'm using sperzel locking tuners and the head is angled back giving a break angle of 8° or so if I remember correctly. Changing strings is so much faster, and getting a twist in a string is never even a concern.
