It's really up to you. I use a brass pick, a felt pick and a heavy Dunlop pick. I don't use them that often. Depends on what the song calls for. If you don't feel like playing with a pick dont. Do you record your practices?

I own a GL USA. I absolutely love it. It has everything on it I would have replaced anyway. High mass bridge etc. It's not light. I have a bad back and neck. This doesn't seem to bother it as much as other basses. Maybe its the way its balanced. And awe....the Tone! That bass is a beast!
