Hey guys n gals, I finished up another gold anodized aluminum pickguard last weekend. This little fella is going on a Mini refinished in Olympic White. I'm super-stoked for the guy and can't wait to see it put together!

There's really no point in upgrading your nut from stock. If there is any tone enhancement, it would only affect open strings. Fretted notes wouldn't change. You only need to change the nut if it is worn out, or cut wrong, or too deep, and even then, there are tricks you can do without replacing it.

Awesome! Looks great. I made a dark brown dye with some amber in it for a base, then sanded that back, then dyed with amber. I sprayed a couple of clear coats of lacquer next, applied my decal, then sprayed several costs of amber tinted lacquer until the decal was buried.

I've been a way a while, do you have pics of the tinted neck? I thought I was the only one who had done it...

Unfortunately they were sealed after the dye process, so the color is locked in. But, yes, I could change the tone by immersing it again in the dye, or remove the color completely by soaking it in a bleach solution. I can strip the anodize layer and redo it, but I'd think I'd rather keep samples...
