Tone heavy ,light.thick,thin....I'm not sure I subscribe to the idea of wieght being a tone thing kinda leave that up to eq...it's mire bout comfort than weight...if a bass is nice and balanced the weights even...if your in a fight with balance itl feel heavy everytime and might make you play...

I guess it's technically edge.they shape easier cause your sanding across the grain .. .I did it out of boredom but it worked fine

For sure...I've learnt things from completely self taught players and taught things to well trained...I do wish in hind site I would've went to university for music but it wasn't in the cards...to many people thing music is a sport and think of schooling as a competitive edge...definitively...

The idea that self taught people hate on trained has got to be insecurity or jealous how could they form an opinion on the value of training if they e never been...cant judge it from indidvuals...
