i totally DISAGREE and just like I have every time i see a similar thread on TB... these are one of the few discussions I cant ignore ands feel obligated to weigh in on. Not that I seek to argue or even point proverbial fingers but the tones you perceive as boomy or what ever you described them...

i made this one from a gifted EB-) that had head stock broken off ... its a 24 fret fretless neck which was also a gift .. which i had to repair fretboard that was delaminating and so i yanked frets inserted slivers of white ash and kept going also added set of vintage dimarzio p-bass pickups...

im not sure about dead "spots" however i found the entire "G" string to be deadish , by this i mean even when using compressor the string as a whole is/was dynamically inferior to the other three , i popped pickups and pushed posts up a little bit and it helped but now 6 - 8 months later ...

BTW the fludelouve looking thing at tail of bass is actually functional spacer i made out of skill saw skid plate to get the bridge which came off 1980 explorer , up high enuff to actually use the bass .... the shape or design was just out boredom and at that point i really thought it was going...

i myself love the EB cobalt rounds on thunderbird and stingray and les paul basses which are my top 3 favs and btw the spare {old} strings that are chewing up the fretless are cobalts ... they sound awsome but damaging with my playing style to the fretless monster i created
