I use Steve Harris signature Rotosound strings on my C# bass. It sounds killer and it's really fun to play. The strings are heavy gauge (110-55 I think), so you might have to file the nut. I recommend you try them out though.

I'd consider the g&l sb-1 pup. It's got punch and thickness when you roll that tone back. It's a beast on full blast, and looks cool. I miss mine and will prolly get another someday.

I have a parts fender bass with a player series MIM neck tuned up to F and its strung with DR Legend strings. I think it's holding up ok. The neck needed a lot of truss adjustment to make it near playable at regular tuning. Guess that's why the schmucks sold me the neck to begin with.

You might want a little smaller neck than you're used to because the strings can be a lot bigger for BEAD, and you may have to deal with slightly higher action than a bass with regular tuning. I had 45-100 stainless rounds on it with regular EADG tuning. It's still probably the neck that moved though, because several people have debunked my sagging/lowering flats theory.

I think you should take a look at the G&L SB-1 pick up. It's really good, but I never played it in a pj bass.

I've played through just about every non digital rumble out there. The 200 is their best sounding combo by far, but I'm not going to tell you how to live your life.

I just did a quick intonation adjustment at the bridge (I "lengthened" the string), and I think my string height may have increased. Am I crazy? Or can intonation adjustments change your action?
