The effects return on the amp would be expecting instrument level, not line level. I wonder if you're hitting a protection circuit that is turning it way down. Try setting it to instrument and turn everything back down, see if that makes a difference.

This is exactly why I use a Stomp. I don't want to worry about any of that stuff anymore and I'm willing to trade that last 10% of "ideal" sound quality for never having to do more than plug in and go. My current setup is wireless -> tuner -> Stomp.

I just run into a GK MB212. I do the trick of splitting the signal to run the send at line level with the amp sim to the board and the signal without the amp sim to the GK combo.

The direct box can be dropped too with the addition of a TRRS -> stereo XLR cable. That's what I do for my church gig.

I can only answer #1, but it's the GK model, the G Cougar 800, no amp sim, with a LA Studio Comp *after* it. Beautifully punchy modern tone for all kinds of gospel, praise & worship, etc.

Really good. The GK is a faithful reproduction. I've never owned an Aguilar or Acoustic amp, but the GK can be dialed in just like my MB combo.

I own one, but it looks like a way to make "dumb" effects a little more controllable. Probably the most effective use would be to hook up the Gigrig on the effects loop of the Stomp, so you can change where your other pedals go on a patch-by-patch basis.

Yeah, that's not a switch and an expression, it's two switches and an expression. You need something like the DMC Micro for that--it switches over midi, and also has an expression input which it converts to midi. You could then add two more switches for a total of four, two more expressions...

LOL, I have a feeling I wouldn't get along very well with that production director. The answer would always be "yes"--a lot of modern P&W bassists just aren't very good at writing bass lines.

This. Body style is arguably more important than the pickup config. The Aerodyne is a Jazz bass despite having P/J pickups.

This is not a bad reason, but if you want good tuning *and* an emergency shutoff, put your tuner at the front and an A/B at the end. A goes to your amp, B goes nowhere.

Wireless receiver -> Tuner -> Everything Else Why would you intentionally run an effected signal into the tuner? That's a recipe for being out of tune. Can you imagine chorus->tuner? You'd never be in tune.
