Purchase a few EBS (gold) flat patch cables will help your space concerns, too...

I was able to squeeze everything on. I'll use the OneSpot to power the TU-2 and my Rolls IEM box, and I'll use the wall wart power for the LA-1A. It's only 2 things to plug in. I always have power strips by me, and I just can't justify a $230 power supply.

The output that is currently going to the input of my amp at home will be replaced by a Dave made 1/4" TRS to Male XLR for the 600 ohm "DI" output on the LA-1A. Should be an awesome little board...for DI gigs and the occasions where I use my Genzler MG350 Tall 12 Combo.

I had it custom made for me, but I am not able to play in a band now, and this looper has never been used. You can hook up multiple pedals in each channel, or just hook up one per channel. That way, you would only stomp on the looper pedal, and save all your other pedals.

I will say I have found that the right compressor goes a long way. But in many live scenarios I've gigged in, the sound guy is going to add their own compression to that anyway. So even THAT can become a somewhat moot point.

On the other hand, if you're spending a lot of time in the studio where every nuance of your playing can be heard, I think it makes sense to invest in the best gear possible, so you don't find yourself just plugging into some random studio's direct box and being totally at their mercy.

I'm late to the party, but this right here is exactly why my church rig is nothing more than a wireless -> HX Stomp. Is the preamp as good as a Noble? Nah. Is the LA-1A model as good as the real thing? Nope. Will anybody even be able to tell the difference in church? Heck no.

Heck, it's already kinda overkill on its own, but I do like the flexibility to throw in some effects from time to time when I want them. I *really* like that the entire setup was under a grand, weighs under 10lbs, and fits in my gig bag.

I don't necessarily disagree. But sometimes we do things just for us and that's OK, too. I enjoy the feel and sound that my very expensive tube compressor gives me. Does the congregation or other audience know? Probably not, but you may also be surprised at who does notice your tone. Our singer noticed and she notices nothing. She's not into gear.

I don't usually get al gaga over a pedal...especially a $500 pedal. But I've also never had every single person in the band and sound guy react to a change in my gear - and in such a positive way.

I also think if you are using IEM's that you really want a great tone in your ears. You don't have an amp and room and PA to help with that sound.

I thought about a HX Stomp. I don't use effects much and it would be an affordable way to have effects when you need them. I don't want a bunch of pedals when I use maybe one for a single song and maybe not every gig. A single pedal into a good DI would be easy. I wish the HX Stomp had an XLR DI. Then it would really be a single and simple solution.

It did. IEM and FOH. LIke I said, everyone noticed and that's rare.

It also gives my little MG350 combo a little extra zip.

I'm going to play it tonight live and if it doesn't blow me away (better than My Union Compressor) then I'm sending back or selling. It would have to be another level better due to the size and power requirements.

For sure.

For me I'm kind of killing 2 birds with one stone. I was kind of looking for a tube DI and/or preamp (more than a compressor) to "warm up" my IEM sound especially. I think it was actually the compression part that helped clarify my sound in everyone's IEM's, but the tubes add a certain something and even give a different feel to the response when I play. I won't say it's like a tube amp, but I noticed very clearly a difference in sound and feel when using the LA-1A.

Alright guys after spending about 1 hour with it I can say the Effectrode sounds better than the Union I have but I'm not keeping it. The size and power requirements just doesn't make me want to get rid of my current Union a compressor. Anyone wanting a brand new one for $459 shipped hit me up. If not I'm sending back tomorrow.
