    Tonex Bass Rigs

I did my first ampless tour in November and December. My "rig" was basses - Boss switcher - tuner - REDDI - Tonex - Neve RNDI. My IEM mix was about 60/40 DI/Tonex using the SVT capture. It worked out really well. For the second half of the tour I replaced the REDDI and RNDI with a stereo Neve...

    Anyone here playing Reimer basses?

Ok, nearly a year later and flickr seems to be working for me here again, so - My 4th Reimer - alder, pau ferro, Ocean Turquoise, fretless. Came out every bit as good as I expected... that is to say, its f'n awesome. Feels great and sounds just like you'd want an old fretless fender jazz to...

The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

I recently picked up a Neptunium... the power supply I currently have is a Voodoo Lab pedal power 2 plus. You can combine 2 of the 250mA outlets which the manual says will give you 400 mA, the minimum for the neptunium. I'm not generally a "bare minimum" guy but can anyone confirm if this will...

    Anyone here playing Reimer basses?

Something must have changed either with flickr or this site as I'm having problems embedding pics on the site. Oddly the old ones I posted earlier in the thread still work fine. I'm stumped.

How much did the lightest weight P-bass you ever played weigh?

I had a Fender custom shop 55P that weighed 6lbs 14oz without covers. Pretty bad neck dive. Could have put lightweight tuners on it, evened it out and got the weight down another 1/2 lb.

Do you regret getting rid of your first bass?

My first was a 75 P my parents bought me in 76. I sold it to my bass teacher in 82 to fund a 5 string Warmoth build. I did regret selling it, eventually. He sold it back to me 20 years later, for the same $400 he paid me for it. Still have it, never play it, but it's nice to have it.

Starting Anew: How would you go about it?

I went the opposite direction of you 25 years ago - from years of 6 strings through rack gear and hartke cabs to a '64 P bass and a 70s SVT. Don't care for the modern thing still, so it worked out just fine I'd say.

What Gear Did You Play In The 90’s?

Started the 90s with a 6 string I'd had built back in '85 or 86 when they barely existed, into a rack rig - Groove Tubes preamp into a Carver 1201 (the Rev7 and SPX 90 may have been gone by then, lol) into a pair of Hartke 4x10s. By the end of the 90s I'd dumped all of it and got a '64 P bass...

    REDDI Tube DI Mega-thread-III

Love my REDDIs, hate the Neutrik input jack. After having major intermittent problems with both of mine, I'm trying this: Considered removing the neutrik, making a small metal plate to bolt in it's place then drilling for a 1/4", but after talking with someone smarter than me, decided to leave...

FWIW I think the Vintage cabs look terrific, and when I finally bite the neo bullet I'll be looking closely at them. Still using my old HT112ER and EX all the time, and I don't disagree with you! Though the NV610 is still the best bass cab of all time

Gord Miller, GM Vintage Restorations in Victoria BC is awesome. His vintage bursts kill. '60 '64 and on a new Reimer

    School Me On SVT’s

SVT is my favourite amp and I used one for many years. Would not be my choice for a home amp. Fan is noisy at low volumes, and getting it in the sweet spot means its loud. Where they shine is obviously loud live gigs. For the house I'd go with a V4-B (or B-15), but if you must scratch the itch...

    Anyone here playing Reimer basses?

I wound up with another Reimer. Dave was trying to get as close as possible to an early 60s feel and he nailed it. The neck profile really feels like an old bass. Very old slab of brazilian rosewood for the fingerboard. Another Gord Miller 2.5 tone burst. Pic does not do justice, as is usual for...
